A Day in the Life: RPF Veteran- 30th edition

Hey there Rebels! Welcome back to our Day In The Life column for the thirtieth edition!For this special edition we’ve interviewed one RPF Rebel and two RPF Veterans! Let’s see what they had to say!

Peaky

On the much more fun weekend, I’ll wake up whenever I feel like it because I detest the grating sound of alarms. Then it’s time for a quick workout followed by a full English breakfast because you have to fulfil the stereotype. The calories from that usually wipe out the effort from the exercise. Then it’s time to play some more games,work on the jigsaw we usually have going (shout out to wasjig), and find some other things to do. Recently I’ve been making my own cheese, which turned out a lot better than I thought it would. Saturday night means there’s a 75% chance to go out and go out for drinks at some bar or Spoons and waddle home at 2am. On Sundays that follow, I usually spend a lot of time regretting that drinking. That’s a brief sum up of what me, Peaky, the real guy, the best guy, champion of the people, innocent man and general nuisance gets up to. My morning always starts with my skincare routine! It’s a must-do for me to start my day. After that, I make myself an iced mocha. If I’m working remote, then I go to my desk and open my work laptop. If I’m going to the office, I do that by taking the train.
I have a meeting every morning which is what makes me fully go into “work mode” but my work days are pretty chill in general. My job isn’t very interesting (typical corporate life!) but it’s flexible enough for me to be able to have downtime even when I’m still working it wouldn’t be a typical day if I don’t mention that I’m always on Discord. Like I’m on this app too much.
I’m always DMing someone, usually my best friends. It also wouldn’t be my day if I didn’t mention that whenever anything happens, I tend to film a photo booth video with my reaction and send that to people. I’d say that’s pretty much my signature at this point
During the afternoon, I always try to get some sunlight.
I usually do that by sitting near my window or going outside to read for a few minutes, especially since the weather has been really nice here! (Side note: please wear sunscreen when going outside for extended periods of time!!!) I also am on my computer A Lot.
I always end up playing some sort of game on my computer, which one depends on my mood. Currently it’s been Balatro and Bloons TD6, but there was an era where I played only Stardew Valley for hours on end. I do all of this while on the clock because again, my work is chill and also my boss makes a dollar and I make a dime. So I will do anything to make corporate more fulfilling. Once the clock hits 5PM, all of my work things are stashed away in my work bag and I am officially free!
After work is when I tend to be able to fully yap with my friends. Talking with them is really the highlight of my day and one of my favorite things to do. If I’m feeling especially talkative, I’ll call someone and chill on VC. If I’m feeling a bit more chill, I usually just watch a lot of Youtube videos. There’s also a period of 1-2 hours in my night reserved to pacing around my room while listening to music. I find it really fun, and it’s the one time in my day where my imagination can run free because I’m not overstimulated and the world melts away when I put my music on. Then, I complain about having to shower (especially if I have to wash my hair) but I do it anyway and do my nightly routine. I floss with regular floss and a water flosser every night and I bring that up only because I didn’t floss for the longest time and my teeth were fighting for their lives, so if anyone is reading this Please Floss. I then do my nightly skincare routine. I have my phone set up to block all apps except Youtube and Discord after 9PM so that I can decompress. I usually end my night by sending my friends a goodnight message (usually with a gif too! i love making mediocre gifs!) And that’s basically my day!

Mizore

Nowadays my entire days don’t seem too great because I’m in between jobs atm. during the evening I call my union dispatch to see what job openings are available if any. Construction is like a roller coaster lol it has its low points and high points, so it might be a while until I get the next one. If there’s any openings then I’ll have to wake up around 6am the next day to get to the union hall for role call. Role call happens, I don’t get the job 🙁 then I stay at the union hall for a couple of hrs to practice my welding skills before running any errands necessary 😀
Sometimes there are no open jobs available for dispatch. In that case I still make time to go to the union hall to get my weld on 💪. I always tended to be a night owl rather than an early bird (see: my AUSIA role) so I tend to be up around 12pm, if I decided to sleep at all. I’ll take my time getting ready and eating before getting to the union hall welding lab around 5pm, weld, and then leaving around 8pm. Once I’m home I like to play Roblox, listen to music, or speak to the online homies 😎 sleep if I’m tired, rinse, repeat. Lately I’ve been nostalgic abot my time in RPF when I was enlisted so that includes being on Club Penguin as well!! Now, when I DO have a job, it does get stressful at times. my only experience has been in oil refineries so the work schedules tend to be 12 hrs a day for either 6-7 ( ) days a week, and for 1-3 months at most. for jobs like those I’d most likely wake up at 4am, get ready, warm up my car, and drive to get to the job site at around 6:30am or 7am depending on the site. Then i work my 12 hrs 🛠️ and drive home completely drenched in sweat. shower, sleep, rinse, repeat. Until I get laid off then its unemployment time babey!!
