Art Column – 9/1/20

Welcome to the sixth edition of the Art Column, where our reporters see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

“Oops, I Spilled All of The Paint”/”Hipster Bath”, made by Jolivia, RPF Private.

This week’s featured artist is Jolivia!

Jolivia earned this week’s Featured Artist with her mesmerizing abstract painting! In this colorful piece, Jolivia used a combination of acrylic paint and Gesso, making the paint smooth and thick for that softer look. With this almost gouache type approach, she only needed to use one coat of paint because of how thick the paint was. Moving on to Jolivia herself about the painting, although she didn’t really have a motive for her creation, she more created for fun. Jolivia says personally when it comes to art, she doesn’t plan what and when she will create unless it’s an assignment. In my opinion, the best things usually appear on the whim or in the moment, so this is no exception! The merge of rainbow retro waves, matching colorful flowers, and clashing checker patterns all come together stunningly. Make sure to congratulate Jolivia when you see her in chat!

Club Penguin & RPF Art

Being the Rebel Penguin Federation, we have to include art related to us in this post of course! Here is some Club Penguin & RPF related art made by none other than our fellow troops!

“Rebel Moon Sneakerz”, made by Sanya, RPF Veteran.

The infamous memory of Moon Characters lives on in this piece made by Sanya. Here we see Gucci Moon, which was featured in one of the previous Art Columns, but this time on a Gucci sneaker! Moon should be sponsored by Gucci at this point. This awesome combination of all things Gucci and Moon’s iconic Kirby profile picture made the best RPF clothing item I’ve ever seen since RPF merch.

Theme of the Week

In this segment, a new topic will be announced per week to challenge our artists and see the best they come up with. If you’d like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s Theme of the Week was Floral!

We asked our artists, “why did you pick these flowers and what do they mean to you?” Here’s what they had to say, along with what they created!

“Branch Battle”, made by z3ming, RPF Major General.

Flowers are okay, but it was the theme so I made them red and blue like the branches.” -z3ming

Butterfly & Flowers, made by RoyallySuperb, RPF Major General.

So basically, I just love the peacefulness and calm beauty of florals and I tried to incorporate it by putting the butterfly and some flowers in my [not so good] drawing (like mimicking a still life nature painting).” -Royal

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be…School!

As we enter September, people are either entering or have already begun school. As a fun way to commemorate the new studious year, show us your art of your favorite things about school! Make sure to put #rpfacschool in the caption when you post your work in #art if you’d like to be featured here next week! Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more! Be creative!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. Never steal or take credit for another person’s work!

Thanks for reading!
