Hey rebels! We are back with another edition of Pet Column, where Ella, Lemur, Art, Stevos, Tulip, and Miggy show off the cutest pets (all of them) of RPF! Keep posting pics of your furry animals in our #pets channel for the chance to be interviewed for our next column as well. Let’s meet today’s featured pets!
WolfiaThePotato
Name: Foxy Mischief
Age: 2
Breed/color: Black
Favorite snack: Cheese specifically parmesan
Miggy: How did she get her name?
WolfiaThePotato: well, foxes are one of my favorite animals, Foxy is also my favorite FNAF animatronic, as for her middle name, I wanted her to have something related to Loki because that was the male name I picked before I knew her gender so I went with Mischief and as it turns out, it is PERFECTLY fitting, she knows what to do in order to get attention, even if its causing trouble for me and for the first name, it was also a slight wink to my father’s favorite Mustang model: the fox body, I wanted to keep tradition cause his dog’s name is Mustang so when I got her we have Mustang and Foxy (Fox Body, for my father) I did that cause my father worked for the farm owners and heard about them having found cats and took me to pick one
Miggy: What kind of tricks does she do?
WolfiaThePotato: 1. Twirl (I point my finger and make a circle above her, she follows it) 2. Roll Over (I put two fingers together and make a quick spinning motion) 3. KissKiss (I snap my fingers and offer her my index finger, she has to lick it twice) 3.5. KissKiss BUT I point at my cheek, this is one of the newer ones, we are still working on it but she’s a fast learner 4. Hi-Paw (the name says it all) 5. Gimme Paw (similar to Hi-Paw but I present her with my hand palm side towards the ceiling, I shake her paw to seal the treat deal) 6. Left/Right (advanced version of Hi-Paw, she has to use the same paw as me, if I offer my left hand, she has to mirror me, I make her do it a few times and I try to mix the order sometimes) 7. Boop (boops my nose with hers) 8. Grab It (I have a treat in my fist which I hold above her, usually high enough that she has to use her back legs to somewhat stand, she has to grab my fist) 9. Up All Fours (this one is with her cat tree, I show her four fingers and tap them on one of the platforms, she has to get all four of her paws onto that platform) 10. Down/Off (usually what follows number 9, she has to get on the floor from whichever platform she was on, she’s good at listening to this one but not always in the mood to actually do it) these are the main ones, the next ones are the ones that helps me with my tics or whenever I don’t feel completely okay… 11. Answer Call (comes to me and touches my hand when I whistle for her or click my tongue, kinda like a dog, I suppose) 12. Hug/cuddle (she is NOT a fan of this one but knows when I truly need it, if she feels I don’t require it she will tolerate it for maybe 5 to 10 seconds, after which she requests to get paid)
Miggy: If you two could travel anywhere together, where would it be?
WolfiaThePotato: Well, Foxy is VERY much a princess and even though I bought her a harness and a nametag that has my phone number on it, she doesn’t like going outside, she hates travelling, I have to open the gate of her carrier and put my hand inside it to reassure her whenever we have to bring her somewhere, but if I could I’d bring her with me wherever I go, even if I’m just going to the grocery store, because I get tics when theres too many people around or when theres an alarm going off somewhere, but she’s not very social and I don’t want to stress her out, but the only place I’d bring her with me is if I go spend more than 3 months at my father’s house, thats where she grew up, she was raised around two chihuahuas and multiple parrots, so she picked up a few traits from that. Foxy won’t even go outside the patio door, she will sit with her nose nearly touching the screen (the thing keeping the bugs out) but as soon as we open it even just a bit she backs away or goes to sit on the poofs next to that spot and will wait for us to close the screen
Esskae
Name: Tundra
Age: 3 days old when first gotten
Breed/color: Holstein
Favorite snack: He really liked alfalfa cubes! I had to be careful not to give him too many since they were “treats” for him
Art: How did you adopt Tundra?
Esskae: So I actually took him as a 4-H project, and I went to one of our local dairies since it’s easier to get a dairy calf than a beef calf in my hometown. I went and looked around at the calves that this farmer had and I actually picked him when he was about 3 days old, and picked him up to take him home when he was about a week old!
Art: How did you come up with Tundra’s name?
Esskae: He was a Holstein calf and they’re usually black and white patterned, plus I got him in the winter
Art: Favorite Memory/story?
Esskae: I think my favorite memory would be when I showed him at my county fair. We ended up getting Grand Champion Dairy Bucket Calf, which is pretty impressive, but we won by default since we were the only entry in the dairy division. At my county fair we have an “auction” but the people don’t buy the animal, it’s more of a donation to the participant and animal. So as I was leading him around the ring, I had his ribbon next to his face and in the middle of the arena he ate half of his Grand Champion Ribbon
Art: Did Tundra have a favorite toy? If so, what was it?
Esskae: lol – I wouldn’t say it was a toy, but he would often tear his feed bucket off the wall and swing it around. So I had to remount it so often because he would play with it. We also had a soccer ball that he would hit around too.
Art: What was your favorite way to bond/spend time together? (Riding, walking together etc.)
Esskae: Probably either giving him baths since he liked the water so much, or when I would feed him in the evening I would sometimes bring my homework out to the barn and just sit with him.
Art: What was their personality like? (Shy, sweet, etc.)
Esskae: He was pretty curious, but also shy (typical cow behaviour). He always wanted to be “helping” when I would clean his pen, get his food ready, etc. He would kind of shy away to other people, but then quickly want them to pet him.
Dmontoya
Name: Ashe
Age: 4
Breed/color: Holland Lop
Favorite snack: Bananas
Tulip: How did you get Ashe?
Dmontoya: I adopted Ashe from a rabbit breeder in Florida
Tulip: If you were able to travel anywhere in the world with Ashe, where would you go and why?
Dmontoya: I would take Ashe to Scotland because we both enjoy the cold weather
Tulip: What is a fun trait about Ashe?
Dmontoya: She’s very observant, she knows when someone is looking at her and when they aren’t (she knows when she can get away with doing things she shouldn’t)
Tulip: What has been your favorite memory that you’ve had with Ashe?
Dmontoya: My favorite memory was at my old apartment when she would run around the whole place (it was carpeted) and always end up falling asleep by the fireplace
