Hi rebels! We are back with another edition of Pet Column, where Ella, Lemur, Art, and Miggy show off the wonderful pets of RPF! This month we have a special edition column where we will be featuring dogs posted in our Discord server! Keep posting pics of your precious animal companions in our #pets channel for the chance to be interviewed for our next column as well. Let’s meet today’s featured pets!
Mollsr
Name: Luna and Páidí
Age: 5 years (Luna) 14 weeks (Páidí)
Breed: Rottweiler
Favorite Snack: Cheese (Luna) Puppy remains undecided
Art: What’s the name of your dog?
Mollsr: I actually have two! Luna and Páidí (pronounced Paw-D)
Art: How old are they?
Mollsr: Luna was 5 in May and Páidí is 14 weeks old
Art: What’s their breed?
Mollsr: They’re both rottweilers! The breed gets a bad rap for being violent etc… but it really depends on how you raise them and make sure they’re disciplined. Luna is extremely well behaved, loving, and affectionate (even though she gets her zoomies haha)
Art: What’s their favorite food/treats?
Mollsr: We’re still working it out with Páidí but Luna is a BIG fan of cheese. If I’m at the counter making a sandwich and start to slice cheese, she will run in from the other room haha.
Art: Where did their names come from?
Mollsr: I named Luna, I’m not sure where I got the idea. I just thought the name would be very cute and it suited her. My sister named Páidí and it’s just a cute Irish name. It can push as a nickname for Pádraig (Patrick in Irish) so it’s funny to think this legal name is Pádraig.
Art: How did you adopt them?
Mollsr: We got Luna during covid after my mam saw an ad online. We drove up to get her that day! Páidí was a similar situation on my dad’s side haha. He saw an ad and drove 2 hours there and 2 hours back after work just to get him.
Art: What’s been your favorite memory with them?
Mollsr: Mt favorite memory of Luna is remembering how tiny she was. When we got her, she was only 8 weeks old and could fit in one hand. Now she’s massive but still thinks she’s that small and tries to sit on us
Art: If you could travel anywhere in the world with them, where would you go?
Mollsr: Ooo, I’m not sure of an exact location, but I would love to take them to a massive field where they could just run around freely off lead since there’s not a lot of places for them to run here.
Art: Do they have a favorite toy they like to play with?
Mollsr: Luna loves any soft toy. She’s had her fair share of Teddy’s over the years. Páidí has his own toys but like to try and take whatever Luna is playing with at the time haha.
Art: If your pups could have a magic ability, what do you think it would be?
Mollsr: Hmm I’m not too sure. I think Luna already has the super power to know when we’re feeling down and comfort us. And that’s the best power 🙂
Kate
Name: Maila (pronounce my-la)
Age: 2 years
Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix
Favorite food: Fresh blueberries
Ella: What’s your favorite memory with your dog?
Kate: There are so many great memories. If I had to pick one, it would be when she was a puppy and just wanted to sleep on me all the time. She would climb up onto my chest and fall asleep for hours. The puppy phase was so hard, but I miss her being tiny. She still loves physical contact and regularly rests in my lap, especially when I sit down to play CPJ!
Ella: Does your dog have a favorite toy?
Kate: Maila has a certain ball that she loves chasing after at the park. As soon as she is shown the ball at the park, she barks and cries for it to be thrown.
Ella: If you could have any pet in the world, excluding yours right now, what would it be?
Kate: Completely unrealistic but I would love to have an Atlantic Puffin as a pet. They are such silly looking yet beautiful birds. They spend most of their lives out at sea in the cold waters in the Northern Hemisphere so I just don’t think it would work out for me to keep one as a pet in a metropolitan area of the Southern Hemisphere.
Ella: What would you dress your dog as for Halloween?
Kate: I think Maila would make a pretty cute bat, she’s the perfect colour!
Ella: Can your pet do any tricks?
Kate: Yes! Maila can sit, shake, play dead, spin, and dance. She’s a talented girl!
Doodle
Name: Duchess (Also goes by Doodle, Poodle, Doodle Poodle)
Age: 4 years
Breed: German Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix
Miggy: How did you get her name?
Doodle: She’s always been my little princess, but I had a childhood dog named Princess and I didn’t want the overlap, and I thought Duchess was pretty and unique!
Miggy: How did you get Duchess?
Doodle: I adopted her from a shelter; however, I found her originally from a post on Facebook. I got her when she was 8 weeks old! Funny side note: Within the first week she was home, she actually faked an injury to her paw in order to not go into her crate
Miggy: Does she have a favorite game she likes to play?
Doodle: So, she loves her toys. I’ve gotten toys that are meant to be destroyed and there’s another toy inside and she has never ripped it. She really loves and takes care of her toys. It’s so sweet. She loves to be chased and play tug of war.
Miggy: Does she have a favorite toy?
Doodle: She has a long, fluffy, and squeaky caterpillar toy she seems to favor at the moment, but she doesn’t really have one toy that she’s obsessed with. She is very gentle, she was around a small child for the first two years of her life, so I think that has a lot to do with it
Miggy: Do you have a favorite memory of/with her?
Doodle: Hmm, I’m finding it difficult to come up with a favorite. She makes me laugh everyday and she has such a huge personality. We’ve been through a lot together, good and bad, so that question is really tough for me to answer.
Miggy: If she had a super power, what would it be?
Doodle: I like that question! Stealth or invisibility. This girl is sneaky!!
