Pet Column – Florence, Jessie & Scraggy
Hey there Rebels! Welcome back to another Pet Column – where Yodabobobo, Cracked and Yas get to know the pets of the RPF! Be sure to post your pets in the #pets channel and you may have a chance of being interviewed for an upcoming column. Hope you enjoy reading about all of our pets!
Meet Officer Cadet Manxy’s pet cat!
Name: Florence
Age: 7
Breed: Manx cat
Favourite food: Salmon
Our Pet Column Interviewer, Yoda got to ask Manxy about their cat, Florence – I wonder what he found out!
Yoda: How and when did you receive Florence?
Manxy: I adopted Florence back in 2015. I remember the worker at the animal shelter told us that no one likes adopting black cats because they think it’s bad luck so I specifically chose a black cat to adopt because I felt bad. Also Florence was the only cat who didn’t hiss at me. She was super nice and let me pet her and play with her and that’s how I knew she was the one!
Yoda: What is your favorite memory or story with Florence?
Manxy: Ahhhh there’s so many great memories but I think my favourite would have to be FaceTiming her when I was away for university. I missed her a lot when I was gone and every time I called home I would ask to see Florence. To be honest I don’t think she understood that I was on the other end of the phone but it was really nice just seeing her again!
Yoda: If you could grant Florence one super power, what do you think would be the coolest to give?
Manxy: I think I would give her the ability to speak. I guess that’s not much of a superpower but I really want to know what she’s thinking and I think it would be nice to talk to her.
Meet Captain Zawa’s pet cats!
Name: Jessie
Age: 2 years and a half
Breed: Unknown
Favorite food: Soft spread cheese
Name: Scraggy
Age: 9 months
Breed: Unknown
Favorite food: Salmon paste
Our Pet Column Interviewer, Cracked, asked Zawa a few questions to get to know a bit more about Scraggy and Jessie!
Cracked: What’s the story behind both of them? How did you get them?
Zawa: Jessie – My mother wanted another cat to go alongside our old cat who has now passed away (rip Spooky) as a form of company so she decided to adopt Jessie when I was at university. Jessie won’t come near me at all sometimes and she avoids me, but she will come near my parents.
Scraggy – It was end of February on a cold Thursday night. Me and my parents were watching Deadpool and we heard meowing outside in our garden. We originally thought it was Jessie at first but she was inside. So me and my dad decided to check it out and they found Scraggy. She was cold and shivering, so my dad let her in and gave her some food and wrapped her in a blanket. Me and my mother phoned up the vets the day after and explained everything. I also posted on Facebook on our local village page to see if someone had lost a cat in the area. The vets told us to bring her in on the Saturday. So I took her in with my mother and found out she was not microchipped and underweight and that she was around 4 months old. They said that if we wanted her we could have her. I named her Scraggy as she was like that when we got her so a bit messy and untidy. No one came to claim her in the month after, so I removed the post on Facebook. We made sure she had her injections and microchip like Jessie so she could officially be our cat. Scraggy comes up to me a lot wanting attention like a big fluffy baby.
Cracked: Do you have a funny anecdote or story with them?
Zawa: Jessie – I would say when my partner/boyfriend came up and met my parents for the first time she went up to her and started teasing her through the stair railings we have non stop for 5 minutes every time he went to the bathroom. So now every time someone goes upstairs and she is there she will attack people through the railings with her paw.
Scraggy – Perhaps the funniest thing I have seen her do to date, is when she went outside for the first time after getting her injections. My dad heard her in next door’s garden meowing at a stone sheep that they have for decoration thinking it could talk to her back for a solid 10 minutes. She still does it now and makes me laugh every time I see it.
Cracked: If you could travel anywhere with your pets, where would you go?
Zawa: I would say maybe Japan. I would love to go for myself of course but also in Japan I would put them in a basket on a bike and ride around with them in it so they can see the Japanese scenery. It would mean I would have to learn how to ride a bike again but I would love to do it if it meant I would have Scraggy and Jessie with me.
That’s all for this week rebels, keep your eyes peeled for the next RPF pet column! Until then, keep posting your adorable pets over in the #pets channels. See you next time!
