This week marks the seventy-fourth official edition of “Troop Interviews”, where a team of interviewers (currently Mars, Cracked, Guinz, and Marie) asks two or more people questions. Interviews won’t have the same questions; each interview’s purpose is to show originality and have its own unique highlights. Along with that, the questions asked to give us a better understanding of each member and how different or similar everyone is in the community. There’s an exponential amount of members here in the Rebel Penguin Federation, so it will be difficult to get to everyone who requests an interview. The Rebel Broadcast Team graciously appreciates the patience you all have and hope to see you guys in a post one day!
The three interviewees for this week are Eskild, Lanie and Gabi!
Eskild
Hi, everyone! This is Cracked, coming at you with a new edition of Troop Interviews. Kicking it off, Guinz interviewed Eskild, a former Officer who recently retired and was awarded the RPF Veteran title! What are Eskild’s thoughts on his retirement?
How are you doing today?
Eskild: I am doing good, thank you! How’re you?
Guinz: Glad to hear that!! I’m doing good too
What do you plan to spend more time doing now that you are no longer staff?
Eskild: Well for the past couple of months, I’ve been at it applying for graduate jobs, taking assessments and all that – as well as attending seminars/panels for different firms within the finance sector! This is something I’m not stopping with in the foreseeable future, until I get a job Otherwise, I’m taking another year of university to fill that time – a bit dry, but we move! With covid restrictions gone now, too – I’m hoping the social life will be much better as well!
How has RPF changed in your opinion since you first joined?
Eskild: Well, the community has always been fantastic, it being the main reason why I’ve stayed! But I must say the new channels in the miscellaneous section, as well as the fantastic RBT columns that have emerged + other new RNM post series are great! Having worked with a staff team with quite a few changes over the past 7 months has been such a gift, though – a great bunch! It’s been as good as I’ve hoped it to be.
What has been your favorite memory so far in RPF?
Eskild: Oh, so many great memories! Winter Olympics 2020 (SERPENTINE) and Christmas Chaos X are definitely up there for me! VC times also so much fun!
Guinz: WOOO those are one of my favourites too <333
As a staff member, what’s one of your proudest accomplishments?
Eskild: Getting to be a part of a RNM team and help with posts within there is definitely up there! Also quite proud of my super quick rise to the top seasonal role for Spring 2021, taking only a couple of weeks But above all, just getting to be staff here is something I’ve loved doing so much!
Guinz: Nice!! We miss having you on the staff team 😦
What’s your favourite go-to song?
Eskild: How can you ask me such a difficult question?
Hmm.. so even though it’s 13 minutes long (but only feels like 4 minutes!), Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden never gets old! The different parts of the song and the energy of it is just brilliant
Guinz: Wow 13 minutes is long for a song!!
Any final words?
Eskild: Thank you so much, and fight the good fight!
Guinz: Thanks Esk too! For letting me interview you <333
Lanie
Next on the list, Mars interviewed our former Third in Command, Lanie, who has also achieved the RPF Veteran title. Let’s take a look at her point of view and how it differs from Eskild’s!
So to kick things off, how are you doing today 🙂
Lanie: I’m doing well! a bit tired but it’s fall break right now for my uni so it’s all splendid
Mars: Omg yay glad to hear it I had a good day but i’m also feeling a bit tired!
Lanie: It be like that a nap is calling my name.
Mars: Me too honestly.
What do you plan to spend more time doing now that you are no longer HCOM?
Lanie: Well this is my last year of undergrad before I head off to whatever I decide to do whether it be gap year to focus on travel and music or dental school! so mainly rn i’m trying to just soak up the rest of my college experience with friends, sorority, and other things :’)
Mars: That’s totally valid! i wish u all the best with ur school work and enjoying ur last bit of that fun college experience <3
Lanie: thank u sm bb
Mars:
How have you personally seen RPF change since you first joined?
Lanie: I think the most things that have changed is just the people since we’ve seen retirements and new people come in! of course it’s always sad seeing people move onto new things but ive always loved meeting new people through rpf! as well as server changes ofc with the new channels like food and pets! honestly mostly little changes but the most important things like community and events haven’t changed which is awesome :lilacnod: mars: for sure! everyone comes and goes but the welcoming community always stays the same which is so great :”)
What has been your favorite memory in RPF?
Lanie: Oh god that’s a difficult one tbh. I think it has to either be when we won lcx or getting officer! Different kinds of memories but both equally awesome. It was so much fun getting to celebrate with everyone after we won and then going on to help win the next tournaments was such a fun time. Never forget the recruiting vcs and getting hype before battles
Mars: Mhm yes I agree, lcxi was such an amazing memory and there was a huge sense of community after that win also officer buddies forever.
Lanie: omg yes rank buds always!
What was your proudest accomplishment as a staff member?
Lanie: I think it’s tied between planning olympics as well as mentoring! They were both such great opportunities and I love all my mentees so so much. Even after I retire it makes me so happy to see them thriving and having fun. It’s just so nice to be able to give back and help others have fun because that’s what made me ultimately stay in rpf/on discord and it’s just so rewarding.
Mars: Awww yeah i agree! It’s such an incredible experience being able to pass down ur knowledge as a staff member to others <3 and gotta love supporting those rnm teams 🙂
What has been your favorite rank in RPF and why?
Lanie: I feel like everyone expects me to say scout medic bc that was my favorite troop rank but I think my favorite rank has to be third in command. It’s just a rank i never expected to reach and it was just an amazing opportunity to do even more than i ever imagined in rpf. Plus yellow is such a cute color so why not!
Mars: Aww that’s such a wholesome answer 🙂 happy u were able to become high in command and enjoy it sm! sounds epic
Any last words before we finish things off?
Lanie: Fight the good fight and enjoy your experience in rpf! Time flies when you’re having fun so make the most of it and never hold yourself back! Love you all and it was lovely being a 3ic and a forever rebel!
Mars: AW thank u lanie <3 twas a pleasure being able to interview you!
Lanie: Thank U! Looking forward to everything you bring in the future <33
Mars:
Gabi
To wrap up this edition, Guinz took the time to interview Gabi, our newest Troop of the Week! We’ll be taking a look at Gabi’s experience as TOTW so far, as well as what’s next from them. Let’s get right to it!
How long have you been in RPF?
Gabi: I joined at the start of September (I want to say it was the 7th)
Guinz: Wow it’s near your 1st monthsary!!
How did you feel when you got announced as a TOTW?
Gabi: Honestly I was pretty surprised! I really wasn’t expecting it but I’m excited to have been given the title!
Guinz: Haha glad to hear you were excited!! Also, congrats once again on getting TOTW <333
Why do you think you earned the title?
Gabi: I guess I’ve just been pretty active in the chat this week and I’ve been to quite a lot of the events and I would like to think I really helped my team in jeopardy on Monday! I was also one of the first to get Rebel Voyager so that probably helped too!
Guinz: Wooo nice job on getting Rebel Voyager, I think it’s a pretty spicy role!
What are you expecting to accomplish next in RPF?
Gabi: I guess I’m just planning on carrying on to work my way up the ranks for now and see where I end up, that’s how I spend the rest of my life and it’s gotten me this far.
Guinz: Glad to hear you have such ambitions!
What has been your favorite moment or experience in RPF so far?
Gabi: That’s hard to say but honestly I think WOW week has been so much fun! I’ve been doing my best to get the most out of it and it’s really paid off! I quite like just generally talking to people in chat though! It’s so much fun meeting people in there since everyone is so nice.
Guinz: That’s nice!! I’m really glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed your time despite being here for such a short time!
Any final words?
Gabi: I just want to say thank you to Crow I guess for inviting me to join CPR as I wouldn’t have known anything about it without them; and thanks to everyone on the server who has made me feel so welcome!!
Guinz: Nice parting words!!! Thanks once again for letting me interview you!
That’s all for this edition of Troop Interviews! Thanks for taking the time to read about our guests’ stories in RPF today. I hope you had fun and that you’ll keep your eyes peeled for the next occasion. Have a great day, rebels!
