—◊ History of Tuxedo Times ◊—
Just one month shy of exactly 2 years ago, on March 20th of 2022, Tuxedo Times celebrated the release of its 100th issue! You can see it here for a full history of Tuxedo Times up to that point.
Now another 100 issues later, today we celebrate a similar milestone reaching our 200th issue!!
Instead of repeating the same history featured in the issue linked above, why not look at some fun stats related to all of Tuxedo Times’ publications overall — By-The-Numbers-style!
How many leaders of Tuxedo Times have there been, and how many issues did each of them lead for?
So far, there have been a total of 6 Tuxedo Times leaders!
Leading the Division Recap team at the time (the weekly event recap publication back then), Rocket made the decision on April 19, 2020 to rebrand and resurrect the Tuxedo Times. A week later on April 26, the first issue of Tuxedo Times was posted! Rocket would continue to lead until his retirement on September 21st, having posted the first 22 issues of Tuxedo Times.
Sharkboi stepped in after Rocket’s retirement, and would go on to post issues 23-51, for a total of 29 issues!
After Sharkboi’s retirement on April 11, 2021, leadership was passed on to Sarah, who would post issues 52-62 before being joined by z3ming on June 23rd. They would then take turns posting issues, and when Sarah’s retirement came on August 15, she had posted 14 issues out of the 17 she led for.
It was at this time that Princhi stepped in to co-lead with z3ming, starting with Issue 71, and the two of them would go on to lead together for the next 2 years, until her last Tuxedo Times post for Issue 171. Princhi retired on August 8, 2023, and out of the 101 issues she led for, she had posted 55 of those issues.
With Princhi’s retirement, LittySkitty joined to be z3ming’s new co-leader. However, this was short-lived as z3ming retired one month after Princhi on September 11, 2023. By his retirement, similar to Princhi, he had also posted 55 issues! However, out of the 6 leaders so far, he led the longest for 115 issues.
Today, LittySkitty continues to lead the Tuxedo Times team, and since Issue 174 and having led for 27 issues, has posted 25 issues so far!
How many different columns have made an appearance since the start of Tuxedo Times? How many times have they each been featured?
There have been a total of 14 columns featured over the course of Tuxedo Times’ existence! However, many of these columns have come and gone, being replaced with others or retiring completely. Today, we are used to seeing the Weekly Maxes and Averages section, Weekly News segment, By the Numbers, and the Division Recap column. But what were the other columns Tuxedo Times has seen in the past? Let’s take a detailed look at all 14 columns below!
These days, the Weekly Maxes and Averages is the opening column for every issue of Tuxedo Times! However, this wasn’t always the case. In issues 1-19, the Weekly Maxes and Averages appeared at the very end of the issue after the Division Recap! The Weekly Maxes and Averages segment was absent from issues 38-41, so out of Tuxedo Times’ 200 issues, it has appeared 196 times!
The Weekly News section can usually be found after the Weekly Maxes and Averages. However, this column wasn’t always around, or at least not as we know it today (read about the “Headliners” column below). We were first introduced to this column with the release of Issue 21, and keeping in mind that not every week is news-worthy, it hasn’t had a fully continuous run. So out of our 200 issues, we have seen the Weekly News segment a total of 174 times!
By The Numbers is another column we see a lot, and it’s one of the funnest columns to read in our weekly publication since we get to look at fun stats related to the RPF server, current events, and more! However, it, too, wasn’t always a part Tuxedo Times. This segment began with Issue 18, but only ran for 3 issues before a short hiatus from Issues 21-28. However, it came back with Issue 29 and has been a recurring segment ever since! In total, we have seen By The Numbers in 175 issues!
The Division Recap can be found at the end of every Tuxedo Times issue, and serves as a recap of the past week’s events. This column is also named after the previous iteration of RPF’s weekly news publication (as mentioned above, Rocket had been leading Division Recap just before he rebranded it to Tuxedo Times). Surprisingly, it is the only column that has appeared in ALL 200 of the issues since the beginning!
Headliners was the very first column to appear in Tuxedo Times, since it was the opening segment for Issues 1-17 before its retirement. This was basically the equivalent of today’s Weekly News section, as it focused on news-worthy topics and developments within RPF and the Army Community. After its 17 occurrences, it was replaced with By The Numbers beginning with Issue 18. But not all news can be molded into the by-the-numbers format, which could explain why the new Weekly News column was introduced three issues later!
The Question of the Week was another column we saw only in the very early issues of Tuxedo Times. Appearing in issues 1-3 and 5-17, we saw it only 16 times. But it provided a great opportunity for Tuxedo Times readers to engage, since the first certain-number of people to answer the question correctly in the comments of the post each week would win a Rebel Cash prize.
Beginning with Issue 18, the Question of the Week was replaced with the Challenge of the Week, which allowed for a larger variety of puzzles and challenges while still providing a way for readers to get engaged! Each week the challenge was different, and included Jigsaw Puzzles, Word Scramblers, EPF/PSA Secret Coded Messages, Crossword Puzzles, Word Searches, I-Spy’s, Mazes, Sliding Puzzles, Spot the Differences, and more! They were usually themed around RPF, Club Penguin, and current events or parties. Once a reader solved the week’s puzzle, they would DM one of the Tuxedo Times leaders for a Rebel Cash prize! Rocket and Milly created the puzzles for issues 18-19, but beginning with Issue 20, Avril created each weekly puzzle until LittySkitty took over starting with Issue 137. This would continue on until the column’s last appearance in Issue 172, as engagement decreased and LittySkitty was appointed as co-leader of the Tuxedo Times team. After its long and continuous run from issues 18-172, this column was featured 155 times!
Our Weekly Comic column was another fun one we got to enjoy for a while, featuring some amazing comics drawn by Coric. These comics would feature RPF staff members’ penguins, and some of the comics were apparently even inspired by conversations between staff members themselves! This column ran on-and-off from issues 53-112, until Coric’s retirement on June 8, 2022. However, the column did make a small return in issues 153, 156, 157, and 160. Interestingly, the column was renamed to Coric’s Comics in these four later installments. In total, the column made 55 appearances, and considering the fact that some issues had multiple comic strips, featured a total of 60 comics!
When the Map Updates column was in use, it would provide updates on RPF’s newly acquired servers, as well as any invasions we participated in. However, this column has only appeared on occasions when the Army Community has introduced/reset the server map and RPF was actively participating in invasions. You can find appearances of this column in issues 63-66, 118-121, and issues 123, 128, and 138. That adds up to a total of 11 issues that we have seen this column in!
Not all columns work out, and there have been a few in particular that we have only ever seen once or twice. The first of this type is the Month in Review column that was only seen in Issue 2 and looked back on some highlights from the month of April 2020. Another similar one was the Year in Review column, which only appeared in Issue 37 and featured a review of 2020. There have also been columns created in an attempt to engage readers more, only to find there’s not enough engagement to continue them. We saw this in the Community Spotlight column, which was only seen in Issue 15 but featured a very cool video by Cakeskier showing a Minecraft note block cover of the Club Penguin Sled Racing theme song! Similarly, we saw the Jokes column only twice in issues 105-106, where jokes submitted by readers were selected and featured.
Last but certainly not least, we have the very column you are reading right now! The rare and exclusive History of Tuxedo Times column has only been seen once before, in our Special 100th Edition! With the return of it in this issue, we have seen it twice now!
A huge thank you to everyone for reading this far, not only in this issue but all our issues in the past nearly 4 years up until now!! We hope you enjoyed this journey into how Tuxedo Times got to where it is now, and hope you liked reading about the history of it all! To end this segment, below is a throwback to the original title image used in Issues 1-72!

Operation: Battle of the Brothers on CPAB-Battleground was truly one worth remembering. The terrific tactics and fantastic formations were delivered by not one, not two, but five armies, all at once! This five-way fight, featuring Help Force, Templars, People’s Imperial Confederation, Army of Club Penguin, and of course the Rebel Penguin Federation, began with friendly competition and ended with all the armies united together.
