Have you ever seen someone with a purple name in chat and wondered who they are? Every RPF Veteran has a story, and this is the twenty one edition of the Vet Spotlight column, where we take you back in time to tell the story of our esteemed veterans! Today, we’re telling you the story of our veteran, Mary!
Troop Experience

When it comes to RPF you can find it on your own or someone could have recruited you or you may have possibly stumbled upon us during a event! Well in this case our very own vet Mary found RPF on their own by a TikTok they saw that pop in their For You Page!
When asked how did you first feel when you joined RPF? and What was it like being a new troop in such a big server? Mary explained that they were scared to talk to everyone at first, but then starting to feel like this was their place to be since everyone was so welcoming. In other words, seeing everyone being so welcoming and kind made them feel that they were able to settle in so quickly ❤️.

When asked “What was your first event and what were your first impressions of it?”, Mary said, “My first event was of course a Taylor Swift related event called All Too Well the event was pretty fun even though it was a bit confusing but I learned fast so it was easy!!” and while we were talking about their first event we both mentioned how this event fits them perfectly since they are Taylor Swift fan, so it was very on brand for them.
On January 19th, 2024 Mary was award the 286 Troop of the Week! Their rank at the time she was awarded was Major! When asked “When you received TOTW, what was going on in your mind when you received it?” Mary said, “I was so surprised to receive TOTW, I was unexpected that to happen!”

Mary’s Troop of the Week Speech!
To wrap Mary experience as troop Mary was asked, “Lastly, as a troop did you have any rank goals?”, in which she responded with, “I had no ranks goals as a troop, although I wanted to reach the last troop rank to make it to staff.” Which bring us as her time as a mod!
Mod Experience

On January 29th 2024, Mary became cadet and when asked what made you want to apply for mod?, Mary explained they wanted help out the community and seeing everyone being to friendly especially the staff so it made them feel good about being a staff❤️. While, Mary was a cadet her mentor was our third in command Master Ds who was a general at the time. Mary was cadet for a month before getting promoted to Brigadier General on February 26, 2024! While as staff her mentor was our second in command Lemur!
Mary climbed though the ranks and reached general on September 16th, 2025! When it came to how different was being a general for you compared to mod ranks below?, Mary explained being a general was pretty fun but so much work compared to the other ranks, since being a general was all about mentoring cadets which was really fun to do but can also be hard at the same time and when asked, “What was mentoring cadets like for you personally?”, Mary said “Mentoring cadets was pretty fun, I had to share my knowledge and experience with other people, I had a pretty good time during my time as a general!“.
To wrap Mary experience as a mod Mary was asked, “What was your time as staff like, were there any moments that stood out to you as a moderator?“, in which she responded with “I really enjoyed being a staff in RPF, I met so many amazing people and something that I always miss were the staff nights and just randomly being goofy in staff vc or staff chat!“.
Life as Vet

Mary retirement announcement made by our Rebel Commander Gabi!
Lastly, its time to talk about Mary life as a vet. Mary was asked, “How different would you say being an RPF veteran is compared to being enlisted in the army?” in which she responded with “I feel like being a vet is so much different because you have no “responsibilities” and you just here to help out for events if needed and chat with other vets as well.” Even though Mary is a vet now, she did have some takeaways, skills, and lessons that she learned during her time with RPF like how to be more patient and that working hard brings you closer to your goals!
To wrap things up Mary was asked one more thing which was “Lastly, if you could offer one piece of advice to newer troops, what would it be? And is there any advice you’d want to give to future staff members?” in which she responded by saying “For all the newer troops of RPF please have fun, don’t stress out if you can’t attend an event, we really do appreciate your effort when you come to one, and for our lovely staff team, keep working hard and you will achieve all your dreams, you all have so much potential for this army, so just keep working hard and NEVER give up!“
That wraps up this edition of Vet Spotlight! Huge thank you to Mary for the incredible amount of work you’ve put in to the RPF, and for allowing me the opportunity to interview for this edition! and thank you to all the readers that have made it this far down into the post!
Stay tuned for future editions of Vet Spotlight!
