ART COLUMN – 03/02/21

Welcome to the twenty-third edition of the Art Column, where our reporters (currently Yvng, YipYorp, Sharki, and Cracked) see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due to so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

“Rebel Pokeball”, made by JJsnowflake, RPF Colonel

JJ has earned the title of this week’s Featured Artist with this wonderfully made RPF/Pokemon Crossover!

Materials used: “The FlipaClip app, my phone’s stylus and my fingers xD”

How long it took: “so i started the RPF flag X Pokeball ideation on 25 Feb 1am and drew continuously the next 2 days till 27 Feb 8am where I completed the full animation. I pretty much had 3 sleepless nights cause i really wanted to finish it and since this is only my 2nd try at a full animation it took longer than it should.”

“This animation shows a crossover between the RPF flag and a pokeball. Why? I mean have you noticed that the pokeball and the RPF flag actually has the same colour scheme? It literally clicked in my brain at 1am in the morning and I had to make it happen. But why draw a still drawing if you can make it move? Also, pikachu is one of my favourite pokemon so I let pikachu be my feature pokemon to make a cute entrance from the pokeball :P”

Theme of the Week

In this segment, we will be announcing a different topic every week to challenge our artists and see what they come up with. If you would like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s Theme of the Week was Pokemon!

“Treecko’s Family Tree”, made by Yvng Baller, RPF Major General
“I have been a big fan of Pokemon since i was 5 i would say LOL, so for the art column this week I decided to take part and draw my favorite pokemon Treecko and it’s evolution’s Grovyle and Sceptile. Treecko is just so cool and i have always loved using it in the games!!”

“Arceus”, made by Link3000, RPF Third in Command
“I love mythical and legendary pokemon because they’re always so unique and in some cases majestic (example, Arceus). While I’ve had many other favourite pokemon in the past, this is one I keep coming back to. Arceus is also the “Creator of the Universe” which I think is quite a cool concept for a pokemon series. As for the drawing I used a regular writing pencil for the first outline and shading, an ink pen for the bold outline and some old coloured pencils I had lying around.”

“pokefusion: mimikwick”, made by Zhark, RPF Colonel
“this is a combination of 2 of my favorite pokemon, mimikyu and litwick, that i drew a couple years ago! i like litwick’s color scheme especially and mimikyu is shaped like a friend”
“The Squirtle”, made by Noodles, RPF Corporal
“I made it because squirtle is my favorite pokemon and I made it because I love pixel art!”

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be… Superheroes! So think super and mighty in this one, Rebels, and create some art related to anything superhero, from Marvel to DC, to even creating your own heroes. Make sure to put #rpfacsuperheroes in the caption when you post your work if you would like to be featured here next week! Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. Never steal or take credit for another person’s work!
