ART COLUMN – 03/09/21

Welcome to the 24th edition of the Art Column, where our reporters (currently Yvng, YipYorp, Sharki, and Cracked) see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

“Silver Thomas and Edward” made by RedNosedLugia, RPF Private

This week’s featured artist is RedNosedLugia!

Lugia made these paper train models out of metallic silver paper and various inks. We love the impressive attention to detail, friendly faces, and clean craftsmanship of these models!

Club Penguin & RPF Art

Being the Rebel Penguin Federation, we have to include art related to us in this post of course! Here are some Club Penguin & RPF-related art made by our fellow troops!

“Rebel Commanders” made by Coric, RPF Officer Cadet

“I always enjoy making different portraits and comics. And I couldn’t pass up doing another RC portrait since it last changed. I couldn’t decide whether to do a serious pose or more relaxed/fun one. I ended up deciding to switch it up a little and do a fun one with the RCs.”

“Rebel Redesign” by Jacquardio, RPF Major General
“Got bored one night and decided to fire up Procreate, and i tried my hand at designing a title (idk if that’s the right word, y’all know what I mean lol) page for the RPF instagram page! I took some inspiration from the main hub’s design (I like the sleek, modern vibe) and I really like how it turned out! I’d say Procreate was worth it lol”

Theme of the Week

In this segment, we will be announcing a different topic every week to challenge our artists and see what they come up with. If you would like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s theme was superheroes!

“Mark III” by Link3000, Third in Command

Description: I decided to draw Iron Man because he (And ofc including Tony Stark) is one of my favourite, if not my favourite characters of MCU (hence the 3000 in my name lol). He has a great character arc and development throught the movies and also is a sass legend. For the drawing i used normal 2B pencil for the primary outline and and for the gray shadings, an ink pen for the black/final outline and then some coloured pencils for the filling and the rest of the shading 🙂
“The Amazing Spider-Rebel” by Lanie, RPF General
“spiderman has always been one of my favorite superheroes (if not the absolute favorite) and i wanted to try and transform him into the colors of the rpf uniform! and added some rf/rpf touches overall and yeah! :)””

“superman” by z3ming, General
“batman > superman”

“Gotham Patrol by Coric, Officer Cadet”
“This is my redraw on a piece I did back in Senior year. I’ve always loved Batman and this was the best timing to redraw my old piece. I also wanted to redraw it the way I envisioned this piece to be and not the teacher’s vision, and I’ve definitely improved!”

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be… dreams! What do you dream about? Whether it’s a peaceful daydream or a scary nightmare, we want to see it! Don’t be afraid to get as abstract as you like! Make sure to put #rpfacdreams in the caption when you post your work if you’d like to be featured here next week. Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more! Be creative!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. Never steal or take credit for another person’s work!

Thanks for reading!
