ART COLUMN – 3/21/22

Welcome to the mega-edition of the Art Column! We are forty-five editions strong, and our reporters (currently Cracked, Yvng and imatsoup) have compiled some great pieces in the #art channel to showcase members of the Rebel Penguin Federation!

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Our Artists This Column

“Miles Morales” , by Pinkpop, RPF Lieutenant General

“It’s copied from a scene from the Into the Spiderverse movie at the very end when Miles talks to his dad as spiderman :p (spoiler). I found a YT clip of the scene and paused it at this moment. Did it all in Procreate. Inspiration: I watched the movie for the first time last week and that scene was super, it was in my head for a while :p Time taken: 2-3 hours”

“Staff portrait”, by Coric, RPF General

“Its been a hot minute since my last staff portrait and I wanted to also practice on my shading and highlights. It was a pain with the small details but I’m super happy with how it turned out!”

“Festo the Party Penguin” , by Trackling, RPF Colonel

“Festo chilling on the ice during the Holiday Party”

“cookies and cream reindeer”, by i_am_rat_queen, RPF Visitor

“the name is inspired by the hair and the antlers. so it’s tied with the winter theme because it has the green for the eyes and a red shirt. it also has a red nose and antlers to represent a reindeer. the piece is inspired by how sometimes you can always be different like the hair represents how blonde and brown are different because you don’t just have to be one you can be different and be both! also the red shirt is what my the first color shirt my niece wore and santa! and if you see the elf shaped ears that means that elves also are important for christmas spirit!”

“Let It Snow” , by jjsnowflake, RPF Colonel

“This snow falling window scene is a part of my Christmas animation that I submitted for the advent art contest. Thought I’d make it a thing of it’s own since i had to dot the snowfalling frame by frame for over 100 frames :despair: and also since it happens to fit the ac theme of “winter” too “

”Bill Cipher”, by z3ming, RPF Second in Command

”I was shovelling and I made a triangle and thought: ”damn I should make Bill Cipher”, so I did. All it took was a shovel and some snow.”

”Twisty”, by Quix, RPF Lieutenant

”This was a class piece I made demonstrating the rule of 3rds; basically, the human brain tends to look at things placed in 3rds and thinks theyre interesting, so before I made the sketch for this piece I made lines where all the 3rds were and placed things accordingly. The hand is on a third, the twisty arm is mostly on the third, etc etc. This was also meant to be an abstract piece (my teacher let us make one element in the drawing be not abstract if we wanted lol)”

”RPF Christmas”, by imatsoup, RPF Major General

“Inspired by Coric’s halloween drawing, I wanted to make something big, so I spent the past month working on this piece. It was originally gonna be edited in GIMP, but it decided to be mean to me, so I decided to finish it by hand. I’m really happy I was able to finish this before Christmas ended!”

”Oh, Puffle Tree!”, by LittySkitty, RPF Major General

”This festive little penguin just loves singing Christmas carols while decorating the tree. And what better way to brighten up the room than with your joyous pet puffles!!”
