Art Column – 9/15/20

Welcome to the eighth edition of the Art Column, where our reporters see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

“Satellite”, made by Ash, RPF Brigadier General.

This week’s featured artist is Ash!

Ash earned this week’s Featured Artist with her gorgeous cherry blossom tree painting that she made for the RPF Spirit Week Talent Show! For this piece, Ash drew her inspiration from the “space” gala theme. Thinking of outer space, she immediately thought of using different blues, purples, and pinks to bring it together. Although she originally intended to paint planets, she went ahead and painted a cherry blossom tree because she’s better at drawing nature. Not to mention, she also has the iconic cherry blossom in her username! Within about five to six hours, Ash used acrylic paints and dabbing & layering techniques to create this beautiful scenery. Fun fact about Ash: she rarely shares her artwork publicly, so to see this is a once in a million sight! She likes to paint as an outlet and has been painting for as long as she remembers. The skill definitely shows without a doubt! Make sure to congratulate Ash when you see her in chat!

Club Penguin & RPF Art

Being the Rebel Penguin Federation, we have to include art related to us in this post of course! Usually there would be some Club Penguin & RPF related art made by none other than our fellow troops included here. However, since there wasn’t much new art for this category and I would prefer to avoid featuring repetitive art, this section won’t have anything to offer this week. We hope to see some new Club Penguin & RPF art in #art soon!

Theme of the Week

In this segment, a new topic will be announced per week to challenge our artists and see the best they come up with. If you’d like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s Theme of the Week was Rainbow!

We asked our artists, “how did rainbows influence you to create your piece?” Here’s what they had to say, along with what they created!

“Rainbow Spectrum”, made by MissyZ, RPF Captain.

Well, I love rainbow everything. You’ll always see my penguin with its rainbow hat on CPA and I love representing the Pride Rainbow (I’m like bisexual/asexual… confusing, but whatever) I also wanted to represent other pride colors in my side hearts!” – Missy

Double Rainbow, taken by CooingBridge314, RPF Master Sergeant.

So basically it’s a picture of a double rainbow I saw when I was outside. I don’t usually see a double rainbow so it was pretty special.” – Cooing

“Crazy Waves”, made by Toia, RPF Master Sergeant.

Once again, my painting is from Adventure Time. Usually people joke that this show feels like a crazy trip lol so I tried to portray the colorful background in a psychedelic way.” – Toia

Pride, made by Sloaps, RPF Veteran.

Personally, rainbows are a really big part of me as a queer person because they represent pride! I used the rainbow as a background and the hoodie strings and also added a lil pride flag on his cheek hehe” – Sloaps

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be…Pets!

It’s always nice to see some wholesome pet pics in main chat! However, this week, we want to see some art that you dedicate to your special furry friends. Show them some love! Make sure to put #rpfacpets in the caption when you post your work in #art if you’d like to be featured here next week! Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more! Be creative!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. Never steal or take credit for another person’s work!

Thanks for reading!
