Art Column – 9/8/20

Welcome to the seventh edition of the Art Column, where our reporters see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

Pink Flower, taken by Bleh Duck, RPF Master Sergeant.

This week’s featured artist is Bleh Duck!

Bleh Duck earned this week’s Featured Artist with her up-close floral photography! As you can see, there is a pink flower in the middle of some green leaves at a sideways angle. This so-called “Point-of-View” (POV) angle focuses on the details of the leaves in the front of the picture whereas the more your eyes move up, the less detail there is. These colors also demonstrate the opposite sides of the color wheel. Red and green are considered “opposites” that actually compliment each other as well. Although the flower is technically pink, it’s a variation of red and still works all the same. This photo really stood out in terms of angle, detail, and color! Make sure to congratulate Bleh Duck when you see her in chat!

Club Penguin & RPF Art

Being the Rebel Penguin Federation, we have to include art related to us in this post of course! Here is some Club Penguin & RPF related art made by none other than our fellow troops!

“Flag”, made by z3ming, RPF Major General.

.In this piece, we have a Minecraft rendition of the RPF flag. Without a doubt, this had to have taken a long time as there’s probably over a few hundred blocks in this photo! That is some true dedication and motivation to finish something as big as this.

“RPF Puffle”, made by ravioliduck, RPF Private First Class.

Here we have a cute orange puffle in some RPF uniform gear. If only our puffles could wear night vision goggles and the red guitar! Also, I’d say this puffle definitely fights the good fight. Where can I get one?

Theme of the Week

In this segment, a new topic will be announced per week to challenge our artists and see the best they come up with. If you’d like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s Theme of the Week was School!

We asked our artists, “what influenced you to make what you created based on school?” Here’s what they had to say, along with what they created!

“Abby”, made by Abby, RPF Sergeant.

I was influenced to make this drawing based on school because right now for most of us, school is online, and that’s what the computer. But there is a few of us that gets to go to school, and that is what the mask represents. But lastly, under the right eye, you can see a single tear falling from her eye, and that represents the sadness that everyone feels about everything that is going on in the world right now.” -Abby

“Zoom”, made by z3ming, RPF Major General.

Theme was school.” -Z

School Film, made by jjsnowflake, RPF Colonel.

Tried a different drawing style, this is kinda like a film strip of school life.” -jjsnowflake

“The Quiet Before The Storm”, made by EssJay, RPF Corporal.

The moment I realised the new art theme was school, I knew I wanted to participate. I had been experimenting with pixel art and thought I’d give it a shot. The school is largely based on the school from the Disney show recess. With the yellowish colour and the large clock on the top of the building.” -EssJay

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be…Rainbow!

Who doesn’t love a bit of color? With this week’s theme of rainbow, we want to see what meanings rainbows have to you or how colorful of a piece you can create! Make sure to put #rpfacrainbow in the caption when you post your work in #art if you’d like to be featured here next week! Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more! Be creative!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. Never steal or take credit for another person’s work!

Thanks for reading!
