Behind the Rebel News Media Teams: Part 1

Welcome Rebels to a new two-part segment called Behind the RNM Team where Mars and I, Jaeun, interviewed RPF’s team leaders and asked them to shed some light on how they manage their teams! Make sure to keep reading for a sneak peek into PPC, Contest Team, and the Tuxedo Times Team!

Party Planning Committee

led by Avrillaving2 & Lanie

Thank you for letting me interview! Let me know when you guys are ready for the first question!

Lanie: im ready when u are :goo:

Avrillaving2: yw <33 I’m ready!

What responsibilities do you carry out on your team as HCOMs?

Lanie: essentially as hcoms, we’re here to organize and facilitate weeks/weekends that are fun activities on top of our events to add some :SPARKLESINODA: s p i c e :SPARKLESINODA: to our fun events already :goo: a big part is working together with the mods as well to see what ideas troops would like and everyone in general would enjoy! also awarding fun rebel cash for any special activities we have :bongohehe:

Avrillaving2: Yes we help plan most of the huge weekend events/week-long events that happen in the server! We try to think about some fun and creative things that the troops (and us ofc too) would love! Lots of thoughts and meetings go into each event for all sorts of things you wouldn’t think about like making the gfxs, the roles, the storytelling (if the event has a big story behind it like the Retro Rebels or Murder Mystery), riddles, prizes, etc! It can be a lot of work, but it’s also so much fun getting creative with things and seeing how much everyone enjoys them afterwards! Makes it all worth it.

How do you divide the tasks among other people on the team?

Avrillaving2: Honestly everyone just takes the task they want for the most part! Any tasks that are left, people usually just grab it if we ask.

Lanie: well it definitely depends on what is needed for sure! but most of the time, we try and ask everyone on the team if they have any preferences of what they would like to do! we got a lot of creative minds (endlessly thankful for all of you) on ppc and it’s always an amazing time! usually, people will elect themselves for a task whether it’s a post or if it’s storytelling like av said or even if it’s something like gfx! each person on ppc has a special role that they fit into and it’s something i think makes every single ppc themed event unique because even if it’s a similar idea like murder mystery or the retro rebels mystery, we have so many brilliant minds that contribute so many unique ideas that make em special hehe :kawaiiHeartsPink:

What’s your favorite PPC party that you have done?

Lanie: i’m always in awe of the things that we’ve created but if i had to choose one it would probably be rebel potter week! it was the first ppc event that i was a part of when i became a mod and there were so many fun aspects to it from coming up with uniforms to the sorting hat quiz (quick shoutout to z3 for sorting w me!) and just seeing everyone get immersed in the theme and activities we had. it will always remain in my heart as one of my favorite rpf memories :’) (gryffindor owns) :gryffinrar: :firered: :godlyelmo: olympics is also always a fun time so :detective: stay tuned ! :winkk:

Avrillaving2: Definitely! Oh dang I think my favorite that I’ve done was the Alice in Wonderland week. I really love Disney! It was also the idea I came up with, and I was able to contribute a whole lot of creativity into it. I really loved all the name colors, the emotes, the branch battle, the tea party themed gala.

Contest Team

led by Link3000 and z3ming

Thank you for letting me interview! Let me know when you guys are ready for the first question!

Link:

I'M Ready GIF - Ready Im Ready Running GIFs

z3ming: as ready as i’ll ever be to work with link

What responsibilities do you carry out on your team as HCOMs?

Link3000: We pretty much (with the help of our mods) organize the contests and make sure everything’s planned out and is correct. We collectively decide on the contest idea, make sure the posts are prepared and then the overall voting for the winners

z3ming: Link and I work together to manage the contests team and make sure everything runs smoothly, and that we as a team stick to schedule for announcing contest results and new contests.

How do you divide the tasks among other people on the team?

Link: The only tasks that really require division are the posts and that usually is decided amongst the moderators since they’re the ones that will take the posts most of the time. The rest of the tasks are more team-work based and the occasional z and i dming about who’s dropping the announcement lol (and that usually comes down to that moment’s availability)

z3ming: The team members have shared responsibilities for the most part, as all mods on the team accept submissions for the contests as well as vote for the winners, and every time a contest ends one mod will take the results post and another will take the new contest post. We try to keep posts even but it also depends on who’s available to do them.

Link3000: no post rights for hcom!

z3ming: :pensive:

What’s your favorite type of contest that you’ve done so far?

Link3000: In terms of participating (mainly as a troop) I always enjoyed the event ones cause I like coming up with events. But as staff in contests I really love organizing the scavenger hunts, coming up with the riddles and puzzles. Especially when we collab with other RNM Teams like PPC

z3ming: My favorite is definitely the scavenger hunt contest, I love coming up with riddles for people to solve, i’ve always liked puzzles and being able to create them for others to solve gives me a cool other perspective on it.

Tuxedo Times

led by Sarah & z3ming

Thank you for letting me interview! Let me know when you guys are ready for the first question!

z3ming: hey im free to do it rn if yall are

Sarah: yes sure

What responsibilities do you carry out on your team as HCOMs?

Sarah: so we basically alternate posting weeks. we put together the tux times post each week. we have a layout on google docs that has all of the info that we use and we just copy it over to wordpress and fill in the info accordingly. z does the “by the numbers” segment of tux times and i do the weekly news. and the mods write the mini event posts.

z3ming: Sarah and I each contribute to our own sections of Tuxedo Times, mine being by the numbers (and map column during the usrpf campaign, rip map column </3) and and ensure that the team runs smoothly. We try to alternate weeks of who puts together the post, but sometimes it just comes down to who’s available to do it that week.

How do you divide the tasks among other people on the team?

Sarah: there is a weekly schedule, so each mod writes a summary for the day that they have. and like we said above, me and z do weekly news and by the numbers. avril creates the weekly challenges, and bratty calculates the stats every week.

z3ming: Each team member is assigned a specific day of the week to write a summary for, so the work is split evenly, and some team members take on extra responsibilities such as the weekly challenge from avril, coric’s weekly comic, and bratty takes care of the stats section.

Sarah: oh yes the weekly comic how could i forget LOLL shoutout to coric

z3ming: not :good:

What’s your favorite segment in Tuxedo Times?

z3ming: by the numbers all the way!! :triumph: but the weekly challenges are fun to solve

Sarah: weekly stats. it’s really cool to see how we performed each week :’)

Make sure to thank our team leaders for all the hard work they do for RPF! Keep participating in their activities, and have fun with your fellow Rebels! Stay tuned for part 2.
