better off (retiring)

Hello Rebels. For the final time.

There comes a time in your life when you get bored. You browse around, looking for stuff to do. I managed to stumble upon an old video of a YouTuber playing Club Penguin Rewritten and I decided to see if it was still around and reminisce a few old memories of the game when I played it as a little kid. Needless to say, it was the Christmas Holidays of 2018 and I was hooked.

I eventually beasted all the games (easy for a man of my calibre) and had all the items I wanted and got bored. I wondered to myself: “There has to be some sort of community on this game that use Discord or something”, and fate brought me to Sarc in the Ninja Hideout, who was advertising for this group looking for “experienced players”. I figured I fit the role and asked him how to join. He chanted the famous lines, lead me to the RF website and I entered the RF Discord on the 29th December 2018.

I was very inactive when I first joined as I had no interest and to be honest I was quite lost in the community. I wasn’t expecting much when I finally became active and was aiming for the role of Member II (the terrible old ranking system, and no I will not forgive whoever put that in place) which is today’s equivalent of Major. But once I got chatting, I got more interested and managed to land the title of Troop Of The Week #79 of February 2019.

(It’s tiny, I don’t know why but try have a read of the speech.)

I shot through the ranks, attending and hyping crazily along the way. My potential was noticed by the Rebel Commanders of the time (Silverburg, Queenieliz and Cosmo) and I was quickly promoted to the role of Brigadier General on the 31st of March 2019.

I became deeply involved with the community and wanted to show my dedication. I witnessed the retirements and promotions of many. Every struggle and victory drove me more and more to be the very best that I could be and I truly believe that anyone can achieve anything as long as they are hard working and willing to do what it takes. If you are soaring for the next rank or you want to become an Officer to represent the community, don’t let anything stop you.

I landed the big score on the 27th of May when I was promoted to Head General. This feeling can’t be put into words as I finally achieved my big goal of being a member of High Command. Thanks to Pookie437, Queenieliz, Starship and Cassie for chilling with my in VC and promoting me during my bathroom break. I won’t forget it.

My time in HCOM has certainly been amazing. I have lead beside many figures and believe that I have made my mark on the RPF community. From daily events to leading the weekly branch battles (NAVY OWNS) to the highlights of the Summer Olympics (we don’t speak about Team Yeehaw), the Summer Circuit for the Strike Force and just experiencing the wide aspects of this unique community by talking to people from so many different backgrounds and cultures. It’s certainly something you can’t get anywhere else and that’s why I kept coming back.

And finally, I part ways with my final promotion to Second in Command on the 22nd of October 2019. This was definitely the most meaningful promotion to me as I knew that I had worked very hard for it. Thank you to Plane and Ultipenguinj for recognising my further potential, it means the world to me.

And now I officially step away from this special community and retire. It may be a shock to some of you and believe me, it hurts me to be leaving so soon but every cloud has a silver lining.

The RPF is something that I can officially say is precious and unique. The atmosphere that is created here is one of a kind and being in other communities has never lived up to the standard of this one. I thank each and everyone of you for making my time here so special. The memories and friends I have made here are unforgettable and you know who you are. I have been here through my highs and lows in life and it has always helped to just chill in chat, log on to the penguin world and Fight The Good Fight.

(It’s traditional to give shoutouts but there’s simply too many people to list and I don’t wanna forget anyone o.o)

Thank you for everything.

I lay my Yellow Toque to rest. Fight The Good Fight, always.
