Club Penguin Memories through RPF Members

RPF is a diverse group of people, so I wanted to get a glimpse of a few members’ history with Club Penguin to see just how diverse we all are. Today we’ll highlight a few key members and their history with the game, starting with…

T_T Interview

Meg: I’m here with the one and only TT, thank you for being here today TT

TT: Happy to be here :0

Meg: So TT, you’re very well known in the club penguin community which brings me to my first question, how long have you been playing club penguin/ been in the club penguin community?

TT: That’s a good question!! I’m not fully sure actually, but I think I started playing sometime around 2011-2012 on my brother’s account on og club penguin, all I did on there was grind out cj and stare in awe at all the cool ninja items my brother had, which was pretty fun honestly! I never really made an account for og cp till like just before the shutdown, when ban speedruns became a meme lmao.

Meg: Haha, that’s very interesting if you could go back in time, would you have made an account for the OG club penguin instead of playing on your brother’s account?

TT: Nahh, my brother had a bunch of cool shit on his account, I think getting all of that stuff from scratch would’ve probably been fun to me as a kid but I was stupid as hell so I would’ve likely gotten lost in the process LOL.

Meg: Haha yeah, I get you. All this brings me to my next question, based on what you said so far I’m guessing that your favorite memory that’s anything club penguin related is when you played on your brother’s account or is there a memory that tops that?

TT: Theres a couple that top that!! I think in general a lot of the time I’ve spent playing club penguin has been in an rpf context, when I made my cpr account I wasn’t actually very active till I had a community full of fellow cpr players to talk to! and so one of my favorite club penguin related memories was spreading a rumor in rpf in 2020 that playing ice fishing on the server icebreaker (or sleet? icr which one) would give you a higher chance of catching the rare mullet, and seeing a ton people log on at once at the ski lodge LOL

Meg: Omg TT!😂 You’re something else, that’s your coup😂, I can’t imagine the chaos that you caused😂😭. However speaking of RPF, I noticed that on Club Penguin Journey your username is “Rebel Penguin”, was the name chosen by random or is something that you thought of on the spot? Which I may add that it’s a cool name!

TT: It was something I thought of on the spot yeah!! My main got muted for recruiting so I thought I’d try naming my alt that LOL, I was pleasantly surprised when the user wasn’t taken.

Meg: Well TT, that’s all the questions I have, which means this brings us to the end of the interview, thank you for being here.

TT: Awesome 🙂 Thank you for interviewing me, this was fun!!

  Toad Interview

Meg: I’m here with the one and only Toad, thank you for being here today Toad

Toad: Hello Hello

Meg: So Toad, you’re no stranger when it comes to RPF or Club Penguin in general, which brings me to my first question, how long have you been playing club penguin/ been in the club penguin community?

Toad: Hmmmm, well I started playing Club Penguin when I was little and I recently talked to my dad about club penguin, and he said he saw me playing that game at the age of 4, so like 2010 💀. I remember playing it up until 2014, and then I had other interests, I guess I didn’t start playing club penguin again until December of 2020 when I was invited to RPF by YipYorp. I was active in RPF until around June of 2021, which means I also stopped playing club penguin around the time as well, I’m certain I attended an event or two between then and when I rejoined the ranks in 2024, but from my knowledge, I didn’t play club penguin again until I rejoined the ranks right after RPF’s 14 year anniversary and now I’m here 😃.

Meg: Oh wow, so it looks like throughout the years you had a love and hate relationship with club penguin, where you would play with it and then pull a zayn and leave it and come back to it. All this brings me to my next question, if it wasn’t for YipYorp inviting you to RPF do you think you would have still found a way to play club penguin many years later or no?

Toad: I’m not gonna lie, I feel like I wouldn’t because I tend to forget how much joy it actually brings me unless I went on some insane nostalgic trip of course. Hence why I’ve been on and off with it but I’m glad I am where I am you know.

Meg: Aww, well I’m glad you’re here and that club penguin found its way back to you. Speaking of insane nostalgia trip, this brings me to my next question, throughout the years that you have playing weather it was from you at the age 4 or from RPF, do you have a favorite club penguin memory that sticks out to you the most?

Toad: Omg Yes! I don’t have much recollection of what all I did, but the muppets world tour party and the prehistoric party of either 2013 or 2014. I love those so much, Chefs kiss and also the music jam one omg!

Meg: Omg those are very good choices, they are very iconic, who doesn’t love a good party event. Now, all this brings me to my next question, I see that on CPJ your user is “Toadimation” which is a cool name! It reminds of transformers and Scooby-doo and power rangers when they merge all their vehicles together, so my question is when it came to your username was it something that you thought of or did it randomly come to you?

Toad: Ooo good question, well it all started in my 4th grade class, where my teacher gave every student a nickname and mine was Toad 😃. so I had a username that mixed both my first name and Toad, but then switched it to Toadimation to keep my identity a bit more hidden 💀, there’s also no meaning behind the name Toadimation, i thought it was cool. I pulled a Markiplier and mixed Toad with a random word: animation. I know nothing about animating though💀.

Meg: Omg I love your teacher gave you the nickname Toad, it’s suites you well and when it comes to your username I love it, I feel like it’s something that’s outside of the box, I could only imagine what you user would have been if your teacher didn’t give you the nickname toad.

Toad: Well thank you thank you, I also have no idea what my username would be 😭

Meg: Well Toad, that’s all the questions I have, which means this brings us to the end of the interview, thank you for being here.

Toad: And thank you so much for interviewing me, I enjoyed this a lot!

Ohasa Interview

Meg: I’m here with the one and only Ohasa, or who those who may know him as grandpa/ boomer from his nickname from chat, thank you for being here today Ohasa. So Ohasa, you’re no stranger when it comes to Club Penguin which brings me to my first question, how long have you been playing club penguin/ been in the club penguin community? I’m assuming based on the nicknames you have in RPF you have been playing for a long time?

Ohasa: I’ve been playing club penguin since 2008, but I didn’t quite know what I was doing then. The first party I really remember was the 2009 Midieval party, along with the anniversary party later that year, where I couldn’t figure out how to get the party hat, didn’t look it up because I thought looking up guides was cheating, and was sad that I didn’t get the party hat. My original username was modorash, or possibly motorash, because i liked cars and motors are in cars, and ash at the end just sounded cool. I lost the password to that account though, and ended up making several more. In 2010, I created an account with literally my full name as the username, like first, middle, and last name. 😭 and my cousin had an account that was made in 2006, I always wanted to play on that account but she never let me…

Meg: Haha how ironic is that because now your making guides to help others players, what a full 360 moment. Haha speaking of guides, if you could go back in time to that moment would you have looked up club penguin guides so you can finally get that party hat?

Ohasa: I probably would – There are a lot of things I probably missed out on because I didn’t follow guides and try to collect everything, but I had a good experience just the same.

Meg: Hahah don’t worry I have probably done the same if I knew about guides back then. However, speaking about guides and events and the many usernames you had, it all brings me to my next question throughout the years that you have been playing do you have a favorite club penguin memory that sticks out to you the most?

Ohasa: In terms of favorite parties, my favorites have always been the Earth Day Party and the Halloween Party. My favorite party ever has to be the 2010 Halloween Party. The room decoration was just right, plus the pumpkin iceberg (which is the first time I saw the iceberg changed) was just so cool. My favorite memory overall is just the old coffee shop, the music,  the old art style – i love it so much. I even had my grandmother help me decorate a pillow as a bean counters bag to decorate my room ❤️ I still have that pillow (although it doesn’t smell like coffee anymore)

Another one of my favorite memories is playing the DS game Herbert’s Revenge – I told my mom to buy it for me on Black Friday because I thought it would be on sale…I played that game so much lol. Also just buying membership cards and Card Jitsu cards!! I wish the Card Jitsu Cards I had were in better condition. They were probably through the wash a few times, I always had them in my pockets…

Meg: Omg yes, the DS game was a classic! I still have my ds along with my club penguin ds game and the same thing goes with the Wii I still have my club penguin Will game! And Oh yes the Card Jistu Cards was a must have, I still have mine inside the box they game in! Now all this makes me want to get my DS and play my game, wow what a good trip to memory lane. I love that you still have the pillow that you made with your grandma, I find that so sweet and beautiful❤️. Well Ohasa, that’s all the questions I had, thank you for sharing those beautiful fun memories and thank you for being here.

Ohasa: THANK YOUUUUU SORRY THIS INTERVIEW TOOK ALL DAY YOU WERE SUCH A GOOD INTERVIEWER!

Terre Interview

Meg: I’m here with Terre, thank you for being here today Terre. So Terre, when it comes to club penguin world, how long have you been playing club penguin/ been in the club penguin community?

Terre: I’ve created my CPJ account in February 2024 I think. never played the og game or even heard of Club Penguin before that but i’m really glad I do now 🙂

Meg: Oh wow, so you never got to experience the OG game that’s very interesting, do you feel that playing club penguin journey gives you an idea/sense of what it’s like to play the original game?

Terre: Pretty much, yeah! I think the original was so popular because of its friendly community and fun events, and Journey doesn’t disappoint with either.

Meg: I’m glad to hear that club penguin journey is doing justice for you!, which brings me to my next question based on what you experienced so far, do you have a favorite club penguin journey memory that makes you go wow! I’m so glad that I joined and get to experience all this!

Terre: My first thought would be the colour wars. A few penguins dressed up as gnomes gathered in town and started a huge event that lasted for multiple days, with colour fractions fighting over territory and chanting the most unhinged slogans. “we fight against microplastics!” vs “we eat microplastics for breakfast!”. It was really cool and completely unexpected lol.

Meg: Omg yes! I saw that, that fun unexpected event that took CPJ by storm. Since we are on the topic about your favorite memory which brings me to my next question about your username. I see that on CPJ your username is 37Terre, was it something that you thought of or was something random? Like is there a certain reason why you put the number 37 in the front of your name instead of the ending?

Terre: So if you write this down in french, you’d get “trente-sept terre” which vaguely sounds like “trendsetter”. That was my old username and 37terre just looks cooler and is more recognisable.

Meg: Omg wow that’s so cool! I didn’t know that! “Trente-sept-Terre” sounds so fancy, I like it. Haha, I was always curious as to why the 37 was on the front. Well Terre, that’s all the questions I have, which means this brings us to the end of the interview, thank you for being here!

Terre: Thank you so much for hosting 🙂
