This year’s Christmas was very eventful for the Rebels. They encountered the Christmas-hating Grinch who ended up ruining their holiday! He stole their Rebel Cash for Change donations, their tree ornaments, even their tasty feast, but he could never take away their holiday spirit.
And so the Rebels banded together to fix the mess the Grinch left behind and hunt him down to take back what’s theirs! Read on to find out if they caught the evil Grinch, and if they managed to save Christmas!

CLUES EXPLAINED
Sunday’s Clue

As theĀ GrinchĀ picked up his speed, the Rebels noticed aĀ piece of paperĀ fly off the back of his vehicle. They turned it over and found nothing but thisĀ scrambled messageĀ and directions to aĀ secret vault.Ā Does theĀ storyĀ have anĀ answerĀ after unscrambling this puzzle?

The clue, when unscrambled, translates to ‘What does the Grinch hate most in this world?‘. If you’ve read the story above the clue, you’d see the quote ‘…if there was anything he hated most in the world more than happy penguins, it was the holiday season’. This means the password to the protected post is theholidayseason! After unlocking the post, you receive the first code to the vault: 4.
Monday’s Clue
While putting the ornaments on the tree, the Rebels noticed anotherĀ piece of torn paperĀ stuck on one of the tree branches. On the note they found nothing but thisĀ peculiar code.

The clue you pick up from the tree branches is coded in tic-tac-toe code! You’d need EPF knowledge (or a cheat sheet!) to decode this. When decoded, the clue reads ‘What is the wildlife charity that RPF will donate towards named?‘. To answer this, you needed to read the Rebel Cash for Change post to find out that the password was worldwildlifefund. After unlocking the post, you receive the next code to the vault: 6.
Tuesday’s Clue
Just when the Grinch was about to trip, heĀ saw the RebelsĀ peeking from afar and realized it was a trap! HeĀ took off in a hurry, so fast that a notebook with aĀ single hidden messageĀ was left behind!

The next clue that the Grinch dropped looked more complicated than the previous ones, but very easy to decode. All you needed were sudoku skills, where you’d need to fill entire lines and columns with letters from the same word without repeating them! The word you solve the puzzle with, snowflake, is the password. After unlocking the post, you receive the next code to the vault: 2.
Wednesday’s Clue
After chasing off the Grinch, the dog came back with aĀ noteĀ in its mouth! Unfortunately, it was allĀ chewed up, so clickĀ hereĀ to put it back together again!
Can you put the note back together again, crack the code, and find the next number of the vault combinationĀ HERE?
After piecing the note back together again, this is the result! The code is in Caesar Cipher, easily decoded by taking every letter and moving backwards 3 times in the alphabet. Once decoded, you get the question “What’s the Grinch’s dog’s name?“, to which the answer is max. That becomes the password to the next protected post. After unlocking the post, you receive the next code to the vault: 2.

The last clue takes you on a scavenger hunt around the island. After following the riddle, you end up at the Cove, where you see a guitar resting at the corner, which fits the description ofĀ ‘a six string’! You enter that as the password. After unlocking the post, you receive the final code to the vault: 9.
The Vault
After successfully piecing together all the clues, the Rebels quickly rush to the Grinch’s vault, where they enter the code 46229. The door slowly opens, and reveals all the stuff the Grinch has stolen! Great job, Rebels!
ORNAMENTS DISPLAYED
After the Grinch sabotaged the RPF Christmas tree and hid away all their ornaments, the ever-optimistic Rebels decided to come together and make their own baubles to build the tree back up while the others look for the stolen items! The tree now stands tall and bright, decorated from top to bottom.
HOLIDAY TRADITIONS
To keep their spirits up throughout this fiasco, the Rebels gathered around and shared their own personal holiday traditions.
i_am_rat_queen: every year my sister goes to my house and we make our homemade butter cookies

Quix: guys so every christmas my dad sets up a christmas treasure hunt for all of mine and my sisters gifts the treasure hunt requires us to work together and because me and my sister have very different mindsets thats works really well when it comes to looking at puzzles in different perspectives
Yvng: i drink hot chocolate with my family on christmas morning while we open gifts
Coric: I don’t know what to really call it and I don’t know when/why it started, but every year my grandparents gift everyone socks as a gag gift but everyone loves it and my aunt and mom always whoop loudly when they get them
LittySkitty: When I was younger, my mom and I lived with my grandparents (her parents) and we had two traditions for the New Year. First, we would tape strings of money (maybe 3-4 pieces of money taped together length-wise) over all the doors and entry-ways in the house for good luck. We would keep them up until at least the end of January 1st. Second, a few minutes before the New Year we would open all the drawers and cupboards in the house. Then after counting down with the New York ball drop on TV, we would run around the house and close all the drawers and cupboards we had opened, so that the āgood luckā would be kept in.
Trackling: Christmas is occasionally the time of year when the main character, from my favourite show Doctor Who, The Doctor regenerates so it’s a little emotional sometimes haha
cheyanne_c: my fave tradition is that its my sisters birthday on christmas so getting a party for her and letting her see her birthday presents first is always fun
Theddie: a tradition my family does is the kids do a holiday play for our grandparents and they get like gift cards and stuff
Avril: Every Christmas, we open presents one by one around the tree and then watch Christmas movies together.
gabi: my family always goes to the cinema and gets chinese takeout on christmas eve its v nice and chill
Alienn: My local community used to get together and go Christmas caroling! Sometimes weāve participated and other times weāve had carolers come to our house, but no matter what itās always so fun and festive š
Maggie: my Christmas tradition is me waking up my parents early on Christmas morning and opening gifts together while watching the Christmas Day parade and eating danishes togetherš„ŗ
Yodabobobo: Each year on Christmas Eve, I go to church and then take some family photos at home. On Christmas, we open presents and have some nice food as well.
Mizore: uhm my family n i like to put the ornaments on the tree together
Shpec: when i was 12, my dad left the ladder out after putting lights up, i climbed onto the roof, slipped and fell and broke my hand
Tomtom: Every year round about Christmas, me and my family watch āItās A Wonderful Lifeā. Itās one of my favourite Christmas movies and every time I watch it, I notice something that I had not seen previously.
yo gal: so we do this cool thing called not celebrating christian holidays and we celebrate my brothers bday instead because it is dec 24th its a very cool tradition
z3ming: On Christmas Eve my family all comes over for a big Italian Christmas Eve dinner, then after dinner we open gifts from each other, and save the gifts from just our family for Christmas morning.
princhi: for christmas we dress in all white and get together for a family christmas eve dinner; some of our staple foods(?) are potato salad and vitello tonnato 
then when midnight comes we do the whole “omg did santa come already? i think i saw some reindeers!!” thing, bc there’s still a bunch of kids in the family, and open presents
CHRISTMAS FEAST
The Rebels have successfully saved Christmas! They brought back the donations, the tree ornaments, and even prepared more food for the feast! However, their hearts still felt heavy. They chased the Grinch all around the island, leaving him hiding and scared. The Rebels got their stuff back and had plenty of food on the table, so they invited the Grinch over for dinner. All things were forgiven, and everyone were happy during Christmas eve. Scroll to the end of the slideshow to see the Grinch happily eating with the Rebels!
