Uh oh, spaghetti oh! And we are BACK with another A Day in the Life column. For our twenty-ninth edition, we’ve interviewed Lieutenant MunchieMeal, Officer Cadet Carissa, and Brigadier General lilbrownie! Come with me and let’s learn a little more about their daily routines, and lifestyles outside of our black hoodies, bandanas, and uniform as a whole.
Hey Rebels, hope youāre all doing well!
Welcome to a day in the life with āØMunchieMealāØ!
(I want to preface by saying this may be short and boring because 1 Iām not working atm and 2 my family and I have been living in an Airbnb since October due to our house testing positive for asbestos)
Sooo I donāt have a set time I wake up but itās usually between 6-9am. (Sometimes itās earlier if my body hates me) When I wake up, I check my phone and my notifications then see if my grandma is awake to say hi before she eventually goes to feed the animals at home. Then I have a shower, brush my teeth and apply my face cream. After Iām nice and refreshed, I garden for a little. Then I hop on call with my partner and we spend the day together till he goes to sleep (diff time zones sadlyš) I donāt have a set time that I eat but donāt worry I do eatā¦eventually. If Iām not chatting in RPF or playing CPJ chances are Iām either on Roblox, marvel rivals, or watching something with my partner or some friends until Iām tired enough to go to sleep.
Thatās all folks! Thank you for having me!
My day typically starts anywhere from 5 to 6:30am. My first order of business is usually snoozing my alarm at least once to pretend I have a modicum of control over having to go to w*rk, and then I get ready. I always stop to give my cat Margot some attention, though, and I always tell her bye on my way out the door. I typically arrive at work anywhere from 6:30 to 7:30, and depending on the schedule for the day, Iāll either stop for coffee on my way to work, or Iāll make a chai latte once Iām in my classroom. Once Iām set up, Iāll do some light grading or planning (and usually pop into the RPF chat to say hi, especially if Iām not feeling motivated just yet).
Once my day at work truly starts, every day looks a little different. I wonāt say too much to avoid doxing myself, but my favorite part of teaching is seeing students create. I love reading their writing, and I love watching them rediscover that childlike creativity. So many of them fall in love with an outlet they thought they hated! I usually stay after work for a bit a couple hours to get things done because a) I do not have enough planning time, and b) I get way too stressed if I physically bring work home. Iāll also often attend an RPF event in that window and then pop back to getting stuff done! I usually listen to music and turn off the overhead lights, and, when possible, I sit somewhere other than my desk to make it feel a little more relaxing.
Once Iām home, I always greet my cat before anything else, and then I try to do something to relax and reset, especially if it was an overstimulating day. I like to read a few poems to calm my brain down or hop on a game, but I like to swap out what activity Iām looking forward to. Sometimes itās a puzzle (bonus points if Iām listening to a podcast), or crocheting, or embroidery, or reading in a blanket fort, or maybe Iām writing something. I always need something to look forward to. Once Iāve reset at least a little, Iāll pop back into RPF and usually stick around on-and-off until I wind down for bed. Somewhere in there, Iāll eat dinner and talk to my family. Theoretically, I read a book to fall asleepā¦but at this point in the semester, Iām usually dozing off on the couch before I ever reach that point. I always give Margot some bedtime treats, and then she usually gives me a quick cuddle, leaves to get water and use her litterbox, and then returns to sleep under the covers with me. (Her routine is just as important as mine.)
Not a super exciting routine, but it works for me!
Woahhh. So day in the life of brownie varies! But a long weekday looks a little something like this. I wake up and check on my penguin. After I see all the besties grumpy because I was afk in town all night⦠I shower, brush my teeth, and sometimes put on light makeup. I drive my mom to work and then clock in to my job! (My client and I go on lots of outtings so my days are always exhilarating).
First, we usually find a new restaurant to try! After that we decide on which movie we want to see in theaters. (Thatās something we do every week). Iām always picking horror but sometimes itās a bit too spooky for my client hahahah. After that we usually go for coffee or a milkshake. I go thrifting for a new cd occasionally or find some downtime to write in my journal for a bit! I love to write so it is so nice always having my journals with me.
My drive home from work is longggg but I make sure to bump happy songs and sing my lil heart out. I usually have to stop at the grocery store to make something for dinner and then I get to cooking! After that, itās me time!! I play club penguin for a couple hours with my online friends and make so many more new ones! Itās my favorite thing to meet new penguins!! When I start to feel tired Iāll leave my penguin afk in town again and start my skincare routine and brush my teeth before bed. Iāll then turn on my rain sounds on YouTube to fall asleep to. I love white noise. So sooothing. I make sure all my squishmallows are in their exact place and then itās lights out for meee<3! ZZzzzz
A massive thank you to MunchieMeal, Carissa, and lilbrownie for sharing a piece of their everyday routines with us! Of course, a big special thanks to YOU for swinging by and checking out this edition of A Day in the Life.
