ART COLUMN – 04/07/21

Welcome to the twenty-seventh edition of the Art Column, where our reporters (currently Yvng, YipYorp, Sharki, and Cracked) see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due to so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

“Spidey Senses”, made by Lanie, RPF General

This week’s Featured Artist was Lanie! She spent 3.5 hours on this piece using procreate and her apple pencil!

“Spiderman is my favorite superhero since literally forever! I got bored one day and by bored I mean I was procrastinating and I decided to draw spidey! it was my first time playing with different brushes on procreate so the haze effect on the buildings in the back took a little practice so it wouldn’t fully cover but I’m really proud of the finished product and I’m glad I got to learn a little more in terms of artwork that I can apply in future pieces”

Club Penguin & RPF Art

“Generals and Doots”, made by Coric, RPF Officer Cadet

“I’ve had the idea to draw doots with the generals for a while, and I finally went through with my idea to make one.”  Top left to right: Ellabella, Coric, Master DS, Paddy, and Toad, bottom left to right: Woogs, Avril, Ash, Lanie, Yoda, and Z3.

“RPF Battleship”, made by RedNosedLugia, RPF Private

”A model I made of the RPF battleship seen on the website.”

“RPF Colonel”, made by Mycydric7, RPF Colonel

“Just an RPF Colonel with the RPF flag!”

“On The Hunt”, made by Tazmily, RPF Private First Class

“Some RPF members who aren’t very good at riddles on a scavenger hunt!”

Comic

A very talented rebel has volunteered to make an original comic featuring RPF staff in funny situations inspired by daily conversations in main chat! Enjoy this week’s comic edition brought to us by Coric!

“Prom”, made by Coric, RPF Officer Cadet

“Everyone has those wrong place at the wrong time moments, and for Link this was the case. Lanie just so happened to be walking past the window and spotted Link outside with a “Prom?” sign. Wasting no opportunity Lanie said yes. Link correcting Lanie on who the question was actually meant for, didn’t back down and formed the question wrong. Lanie didn’t waste the next opportunity by telling Speedy that she was going to prom with her BFF.”

Theme of the Week

In this segment, we will be announcing a different topic every week to challenge our artists and see what they come up with. If you would like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s Theme of the Week was Spring!

“Blooming Spring”, made by EmeraldGreen, RPF Captain

“A digital watercolour painting. Spring has always been my favourite season, where it gets warmer and the plants start growing back. I also like the colour scheme of spring settings, where it gives off a warm vibe. For the painting, I just painted a spring landscape that puts me in peace :)”

“Dandelion in the Spring”, made by Jaeun, RPF Lieutenant General

“whenever I think of ‘spring’ i think of a cow sitting on a meadow of daisies and dandelions!”

“Baby Yoda” made by Missy, RPF Major General

“I wanted to add some cute flowers to baby Yoda and figured it matched with the theme very nicely :D”

“Beaver Flower”,  photographed by Scarlemagne,  RPF Colonel

“Honestly I was supposed to take pictures of my campus for a photography class, and there are lots of flowers so I decided to take a quick picture of them. I heard a rustling noise and homie got in the way of my picture”

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be… Ancient Civilizations! A lot of our history and roots come from Ancient Civilizations! From Ancient Greece to Ancient Egypt there have been many things captured with artworks! Make sure to put #rpfacancient in the caption when you post your work if you would like to be featured here next week! Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. This goes without saying but never steal or take credit for another person’s work!

Thanks for reading!
