Art Column – 26/8/21

Welcome to the thirty-sixth edition of the Art Column, where our reporters (currently Cracked, Eskild, and Jaeun) see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

“Popee”, made by FIR3STAR, RPF Visitor

“I used the program Medibang! It took about six hours I believe.. The inspiration behind it was the show “Popee the Performer”!! I love that show so I really wanted to try to draw him in a style I haven’t tried before (thick lines, hatched shading!!)”

Club Penguin & RPF Art

Being the Rebel Penguin Federation, we have to include art related to us in this post of course! Here are some Club Penguin & RPF related art made by our fellow troops!

“The defending champions”, made by Toia, RPF Colonel

This is the fifth drawing of my comics cover series. I usually make them for an important event in our server, so this one it’s for our victory in the Legends Cup XI. It’s a trophy room where we display our prizes, previous trophies can be seen in the background and our current leaders (Elex and F6) are admiring our newest achievement.”

“RPF Welcome”, made by jjsnowflake, RPF Colonel

“I originally drew this as an entry submission for the previous sticker contest. It depicts 2 penguins clad in signature RPF gear: puffle bandanas, red backpacks, black hoodies, guitar and sneakers, and of course, those eye-catching night vision goggles :rpfumad: and they are excitedly welcoming new penguins (shoutout to all our baby blue recruits :blueheart~1: ) with a ‘WELCOME’ streamer :goo: Just thought it’d look cute cause it’s like a hand-made streamer that looks like it’s made of string, hand-cut paper letters, clothing pegs and lotsa love :lineheart: Represents how wholesome RPF can really get :grin~1:

Theme of the Week

In this segment, we will be announcing a different topic every week to challenge our artists and see what they come up with. If you would like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s Theme of the Week was Technology!

“Reflections at Keppel Bay”, made by Guinz, RPF Lieutenant General

“The building depicted is Reflections at Keppel Bay in Singapore. Being a luxurious waterfront residential complex, these buildings are designed to be curved glass towers, offering panorama views of its surroundings. Its unique features give it a very futuristic, sci-fi feeling to those who look at it.”

“Glitch”, made by Missy, RPF Lieutenant

“I wanted to make a little piece that was like a glitch from the song deja vu!”

“RPF’s Personal Computer”, made by Skyline Lazer, RPF Major

“The idea is that if RPF had a Headquarter in real life, this is the PC they would use. It’s a spoof/parody of an iMac since it’s much easier to draw. The background would be a very simplified version of the flag.”

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be… Mythology! A study which dates back to millennia ago, it plays a big part in society even today! Is there a myth which interests you a lot? We can’t wait to see all your amazing art! Make sure to put #rpfacmythology in the caption when you post your work if you would like to be featured here next week! Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. Never steal or take credit for another person’s work!

The Rebel Graphic Designer team is currently taking applications! If you are interested in joining the team and produce art for RPF, and hold the rank of Specialist or above, you can DM a member of HCOM examples of your art / graphics!

Thanks for reading!
