Pet Column – August 2026

Hey there Rebels! Welcome the latest edition of the Pet Column, where Citrus, Gwen, Miggy, Morgan, and Marcasite Meg show off the amazing pets of RPF! Keep posting pics of your sweet pets in our #Pets channel for the chance to be interviewed for our next column as well. Let’s meet today’s featured furry (and scaly) friends.

Josh and Dusty

Name: Joshua Graham
Age: 3
Breed: Lesser Morph Ball Python
Favorite Food: Frozen Thawed Rats

Miggy: How did you get Josh?
Dusty: There is a local reptile shop nearby. I went in to just look at tanks and such because I was planning on getting a snake in the future… but then this baby had just gotten done with a quarantine. She was dropped off there as rescue of sorts. I ended up holding her and I couldn’t leave with her!

Miggy: How did you come up with her name?
Dusty: That is a little…silly. I was dead set on getting a banana morph- which are more commonly male, think calico in cats- and I really love Fallout New Vegas. I decided I would get my snake and name him Joshua… then I got my snake. Who was a girl. LOL And I said you know what, gender isn’t real anyway her name is Joshua. Plus they don’t have ears… so… she will never know

Miggy: Does Josh have any quirks about her personality?
Dusty: SASS QUEEN. Side eye expert. Cat without any legs.
She loves for things on a desk to be on the floor. She is scared of arm hair- not head hair-only arm hair. Josh also enjoys hanging out and has learned to come out onto my hand. She also loves to be involved in anything and everything in doing.

Miggy: Do you have a favorite memory with her?
Dusty: I have been thinking and thinking and I think all my memories with her are wonderful! I hope to have many many more haha. She’s done so many silly things like stealing my glasses or headset… Maybe when she was my supervisor when I was working from home actually. That one was pretty great lol.

Miggy: If she could have any super power, what would it be?
Dusty: If she understood the concept, I’m sure it would be mind control to make me feed her more than she needs.

Thank you Dusty for this interview with Miggy!

Boots and Zie

Name: Boots
Age: 4/5
Breed: Chartreux
Favorite Food: Tuna

Morgan: How did you get your pet?
Zie: He was TEMPORARILY given to me by a friend who couldn’t keep him while in the house he was living in, but some life stuff happened on my friends part and he told me to keep the cat if I wanted. Got him a collar and changed his name same day.

Morgan: Does Boots have any favorite toys he likes to play with?
Zie: OH MY GOSH DOES HE?? This boy LIVES in his little cat tunnel, super cheap one with the bell ripped off but he loves that thing to death. If he’s not in bed with me he’s laying in the tunnel and chewing on the broken string from it. Also a string tied to a stick keeps him busy for a while

Morgan: Can he do any tricks? If so, what are they?
Zie: HE CAN!! He can give me a hug on command:) he stands on his hind legs and puts his front paws on both my shoulders (sometimes he does it when he wants to be picked up too)

Morgan: What is your current favorite memory/story of Boots?
Zie: As of right now it’s a very bittersweet memory, it was my first full weekend away from him and the day I came back I went to lay in bed and he full jumped and DOVE into my stomach. I literally have never seen a cat get so excited and almost act like a dog it was so wholesome. I can tell he missed me a lot, I don’t leave that much anymore.

Morgan: If you could travel to any fictional place with your pet, where would you go?
Zie: If anything I’d want to travel to one of the Barbie worlds from like the 2000s/2010s movies and enjoy a Barbie type life with my cat lol. Something like Barbie Fairy Secret and live in Gloss Angeles together.

Thank you Zie for interviewing with Morgan!

Bella and Marcus

Name: Bella
Age: 10
Breed: Papillon
Favorite Food: Apples

Gwen: What is your favorite memory with Bella?
Marcus: That’s a really tough one as there’s so many, I think it’s usually just whenever she feels like laying in between my legs as that’s the main way she likes cuddling with me. I feel like a quote from Russel in the movie Up perfectly sums up my favorite times with her. “That might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.”

Gwen: How did you get Bella?
Marcus: One time before I had to go to the dentist, there was this pet shop nearby and I always liked visiting them as I enjoyed being able to meet all the dogs. For context, my mom always had a attachment to papillons, and it must’ve been fate because we met the tinniest most adorable puppy which was coincidentally a papilons who still hasn’t been bought and seeing as we recently lost our previous dogs, we felt like this was the perfect opportunity and had to adopt her.

Gwen: How did you come up with Bella’s name?
Marcus: I was actually the one who ended up naming her. Once she got settled in with us, I just felt like naming her Bella as the name just spoke to me. Initially it didn’t click with my Mom but she still named her that to make me happy, however now she can’t think of her being named anything else because she believes the name Bella suits her personality perfectly.

Gwen: Does Bella have any fun personality traits?
Marcus: Compared to the average dog I’d say she has… a lot. Despite being a dog, she often acts like a cat, ignoring us, being selective/picky about what she wants, she always is cleaning herself, she’ll only allow cuddles if she feels like it, she chooses who she wants to spend time with, etc. You can easily tell if she’s upset at us or doesn’t like something because she’ll just give us this look that tells us everything, the same goes for if she wants us to do something such as feed her. Though despite this, she still sometimes acts like a dog whether it’s wanting to play with one of her toys, “protecting” us by barking at “threats”, or her being excited whenever it seems like we’re about to leave the house because she wants to come with us.

Thank you Marcus for this interview with Gwen!
