Hi RPF, welcome to my ig-gay! Let’s sashay to the 2nd edition of RPF Iggys, a column in which our team (currently Thomas and Rissa) scouts out RPF community members’ igloos and tours them with their builders!
In this special pride edition of RPF Iggys, our team interviewed the three winners of RPF’s recent Pride Igloo Contest and showcased their rainbow creations. Every igloo has a story, and we’re here to talk about it! From the tiny details to the personal flair of the builder, each part plays an important role in making up the igloo as a whole. Anygays, for cool builds and even cooler designers, continue reading below…
First, Rissa sat down with the 1st place winner, Lieutenant General Gwen!
“Hey Rebels, xXgw3nXx here! I was really inspired by our pride history break day we had at the beginning of Pride Month, and with the igloo contest I really wanted to make it my best. I really am not good at igloo design, I never have been. However, with this contest, I tried to lock in and do my best. At first I had only put items in the standard rainbow order, a bit like how they are now. But I really got to thinking, and realized that it wasn’t wow enough. It was kind of boring. So I went online and found a picture of the more updated pride flag and really tried my best to represent that as best I could. It took a lot of time, effort, and coins, but I am very proud of it!”
We love the big picture, but we also zoomed in to ask Gwen which stripes presented the most challenges to assemble. Gwen shared that the blue stripe was particularly tricky, since it was created out of wall items that would move to the bottom layer at any adjustment, and the green stripe presented a similar challenge since any new items were lost in a sea of green vases. However, through the struggle, Gwen learned how to use the igloo layering tool that allowed her to move items forward or backward! (Write that one down to level up your igloos.) We also couldn’t help but notice this igloo won two awards this week. Gwen shared that her feature in Club Penguin Journey’s newspaper was such a surprise that she didn’t even check the igloo section until everyone pinged her. She shared that she got to achieve this for her child self, who had always wanted to submit her art to the original Club Penguin Times but didn’t know how. We’re proud of little Gwen and current Gwen!

Thank you Gwen for showing us around your colorful ig–gay!
Next, Thomas chatted with our 2nd place winner, Colonel Emfen1!

Hello Rebels! Welcome to my award-winning pride igloo! Initially, I wasn’t going to enter the contest as I highly doubted my interior-igloo-designing talents, especially after seeing everyone else’s amazing creations, and yet there was one event that led me to submitting a design: accidentally buying 99 pride flags from the igloo catalogue in a moment of impulsive weakness. And so, with 9900 coins spent and a ‘Full House’ stamp yet to be earned, I started placing. I found my most colourful igloo (the Circus Tent), disabled the boundaries, bought 10 extra rainbows and did my absolute best. I had to add the rest of the pride flags in the middle of course, as well as every other colourful item I had, like the balloons and the lollipops. My puffles looked a bit neglected, so I gave them their scratch tower, which fit the colour scheme nicely. Speaking of puffles, they themselves added to the scene: I have one of every puffle, adding a dynamic splash of colour to an igloo that definitely does not have enough colour already. The floor is lined with frutal rugs, matching the fruit pillars (there’s a reference there somewhere) in the background for even more colour (and to pad out the skyline – who knew that 99 flags still wasn’t enough to cover it?), the same reason the comfy crab and rubber duck are there (also because they’re cool and I love them). And the item you’ve all been waiting for me to mention… TODD! He speaks for himself. Absolute icon, I had to include him front and centre. I hope you enjoyed this tour of my wonderfully vibrant iggy! You could say it’s my… flagship igloo ;D (Haha… I’d show myself the door, but sadly it’s covered in flags). This has been Colonel Emfen1, until next time, rebels!
The item that really won over the judges was no doubt Emfen1’s inflatable whale, representing the iconic Blåhaj, a true staple of the trans community and inspired by their own wonderful sharks, Irvin (big blåhaj) and Ilaria (little blåhaj)!

Thank you Emfen1 for giving us a tour of your ig–gay!
Last but not least, Thomas interviewed our 3rd place winner, Major General Cupcake!

“Hello! This was my version of a pride igloo for our igloo competition! I wanted a clear palette so I decided to go for a “no igloo” design in the woods (not that you can tell haha), in which I was inspired to recreate an iconic symbol of pride: the rainbow! I was extremely hopeful that I could just get puffle beds of every color, but was shocked to see none for the orange puffle (justice for orange puffles everywhere!). I did design and submit this igloo WAY before the June catalog so the only remotely orange thing was a puffle bean bag chair. It did provide some good, as while scouring for orange in the May catalog, I stumbled across the rainbow bridge! At first I was trying to fit it inside the puffle bed rainbow, but ended up finding the perfect rotation to be a backdrop when piled together! Lastly, you can’t have an igloo without the iconic star couch!, and it fit perfectly inside the rainbow, a perfect little nook.”
With all the rainbows everywhere, we decided to focus on the center of the rainbow, the star couches! Cupcake explained that the seating area was created to let all penguins have a place to relax and feel included! From the small touches of rainbow flowers on the coffee table, to the plush couches to chat at, this igloo is sure to make you feel welcomed for who you are!

Thank you Cupcake for taking us over the rainbow!
It‘s queer to see that we have some exceptionally talented igloo decorators! We hope you enjoyed the colorful igloo tours. Thank you to Gwen, Emfen1, and Cupcake for shining some rainbow light on their igloos, and thank YOU for reading! Fight the good fight and be who you are, Rebels.
