Vet Spotlight: Alienn

Have you ever seen someone with a purple name in chat and wondered who they are? Every RPF Veteran has a story, and this is the tenth edition of the Vet Spotlight column, where we take you back in time to tell the story of our esteemed veterans! Today, we’re telling you the story of our veteran, Alienn.

Alienn’s journey in the RPF began all the way back in 2021, being recruited off Club Penguin Rewritten, by Third in Command, Sarah.

Alienn’s first interaction in the RPF discord, in the #welcome channel.

Alienn attended her first event, a voice-chat led training event, one week after joining the RPF Discord Server, earning her first promotion to Private. She recalls being slightly confused at the event, yet very interested in what everyone was doing. At the rank of Lance Corporal, she was awarded Troop of the Week #189, nearly a month after attending her first event.

During her time as a troop, Alienn had made many friends who played a significant part in her staying in the RPF as they encouraged her to rise through the troop ranks. Some of these friends included: Princhi, Lanie, Owl, YipYorp, Lotte and Jaeun. It was seeing these a lot of these same friends in the RPF staff team that made her initially apply for Officer Cadet.

As stated previously, Alienn’s initial motivation for joining the staff team was wanting to be staff with her friends. But, as time went on, she became more involved in the role, gaining an understanding of how she could contribute to the RPF, and make a difference as a staff member. This soon became her primary driving force for reaching higher staff ranks, and eventually HCOM.

Being mentored by YipYorp, Princhi, Lanie, and Elexonck. Alienn, had a relatively smooth rise up the staff ranks, with plenty of learning curves along the way. She loved seeing how the responsibilities evolved at every level of staff and the most personally rewarding rank for her was Third in Command, which she put in an immense amount of work in to achieve.

Alienn’s most notable accomplishment to the RPF as HCOM were her contributions to the community atmosphere as a whole, over a singular large project. For example, she helped pioneer the #cadets-faq channel, giving colonels a chance to learn more about staff duties.

She co-led several events, encouraging troops to lead as well, and did her best to help people out wherever it was needed. She doesn’t fully take credit for a lot of these accomplishments however, crediting the incredible staff team at the time, alongside her for the constant support they provided, and fun fact Alienn worked on the first few posts of this very column!!

When asked about any key takeaways she had from her time as HCOM, Alienn replied:

“For me, some key takeaways were to always try to see things from different perspectives, put yourself in the shoes of community members who aren’t staff, and don’t be afraid to speak up! Every staff member brings something to the table and the team work all makes the dream work These kinda lessons are super applicable irl too and it’s interesting to see the parallels between staff and a job irl! Overall a good experience that I look fondly on :D”

Alienn sharing one of her favorite memories from her time in the RPF:

“A highlight for me was Winter 2022 Olympics! Definitely my favorite Olympics theme so far because I was on team Ass [Asinus] and it was ICONIC. Every Olympics was so fun honestly and I feel like it’s one of the most spirited weeks RPF has for everyone to take part in 😌”

After her retirement on the 8th of June 2022, Alienn was awarded RPF Veteran for her contributions to the RPF, and nowadays she can be found occasionally popping into the RPF discord server to chat!

And that just about wraps up this edition of Vet Spotlight, thank you to Alienn for all the hard work you’ve put into the RPF, and for allowing me to interview you for this edition of Vet Spotlight, and thank you to everyone reading this!

Stay tuned for future editions of Vet Spotlight!
