Vet Spotlight: Rocket

Have you ever seen someone with a purple name in chat and wondered who they are? Every RPF Veteran has a story, and this is the seventeenth edition of the Vet Spotlight column, where we take you back in time to tell the story of our esteemed veterans! Today, we’re telling you the story of our veteran, Rocket.

Welcome

Rocket’s journey begins through an interesting path, when being Discord recruited by Silverburg on March 26th, 2019, through the Box Critters main hub; a game made by Club Penguin’s own Rocketsnail.

Troop Experience

Rocket was a Troop from March until June 2019 and during that time she gained confidence through speaking in voice chats and making friends with Staff and Troops alike. The best part was the overall community, and many memorable moments in both the game and within Discord.

Rocket’s favorite Troop rank was Scout Medic or Private First Class

On June 21nd, 2019 Rocket earned the 96th Troop of the Week

Officer Days

Rocket, who went by Roqusy in those days, became Brigadier General on June 23rd, 2019. As there was no Officer Cadet in those days. Rocket went directly into Staff, and from there, it was a roller coaster of good times and crazy times.
From several security breaches and the issues surrounding Dirty Dan that impacted the team where they had to speak over Skype and Snapchat.

Within the Fall of 2019 there was a huge Officer reset put into place due to activity issues by Ultipenguinj and Plane where they had to demote, fire etc. alot of Officers, where she herself, was demoted. The server had an an overall restructuring with new rules put into place as well to serve as success in the long term.
During her Officer era she had quite a few mentors from Redweeb, Pookie437, and Ultipenguinj.

Not only did she admire her mentors, but there was also a few friends that looked out and supported her along the way; such as Redweeb, Starship, Chaos, and Emcee. Red and Star were both HCOM during that time.

Chaos was a long time Officer who was easy to get along with and a great friend to her; Emcee was a fellow Troop and the group were often in calls together.

HCOM Era

On January 20th, 2020, Rocket became Third in Command and from there it was another crazy time record maxes of 172 during Operation: Boxed Up. It filled two entire rooms and spilled into a third room.

RPF also dominated competitions during this time such as winning Legends Cup 2020, and just had a great time getting through the pandemic by having fun. Rocket was a streamer for Rebel Federation, a division leader for Rebel Critter Federation (a Box Critters division that she ran very similar to RPF).

The head of Tuxedo Times, which she brought back to expand upon Division Recap and boost engagement. She was also a part of the Top Ten Committee in the CPA community.

Being HCOM meant being a Mentor to a couple people, and she was lucky enough to mentor Jstoryhead and Brenatto back then.

Bren went on to do some incredible things as a legendary Second-in-Command after Rocket retired, and she couldn’t be prouder.

Legacy/Rebel Hall of Fame

Ultipenguinj inducted Rocket into the Rebel Hall of Fame under the honor of Rebel after the Rebel Fight Gala on May 17th, 2020.

Rocket received the honor for her dedicated work in bringing back Tuxedo Times, which was a newsletter blog column back in at least 2018, if not earlier.

She was on the Division Recap team, focusing on covering the events of the week and their Maxes and Averages. This became more important when CPA League came back and had Top Tens.

Becoming the head of the team as HCOM and decided to bring back the newsletter format which brought in By the Numbers and TOTW Announcements.

Obtaining it, felt like a huge payoff for the work I’d been putting into RPF the past year or so. There’s always more to achieve, but I felt comfortable having become a member of Hall of Fame for my contributions ~Rocket

Retirement

On September 21st, 2020, at the rank of Third in Command Rocket, retired to the dismay of everyone.
Here is a full post that she did regarding her retirement.

Rank Goals/Legacy

Though she didn’t have a set plan coming into all this; she thought about becoming HCOM for a while once she proved to herself she could make it to Officer.

Rocket wanted to get involved in projects that would allow her to add to the community. She participated in different things across the board, though not fully sure what would come of it.
She had an ambition for Leadership which is why she started the Rebel Critter Federation, she loved all the dedicated people that became her staff, aka BCOM or Box Command, and the loyal troops that were with her until the end of the division in 2021.

She loved her time in RPF and she’s always surprised that she’s still connected with people there to this day, and the fact that Tux Times is still going. She also made the schedule spreadsheet that gets sent out from RF every week or so. Zhark ran it for a while after her retirement and then Abby has picked it up along with her classic rambles, but she never knew that these things would have such staying power.

Leadership Skills

Crediting, RPF for giving her a great proving ground to work on her leadership and communication skills, and that made a big impact on her development.

Doing different activities at once had her being an entertainer, a leader, and an organizer to thousands of people. Not often do you get to do that at a young age! From 3am conversations with HCOM. Figuring out how to succeed in a war or Top Ten to navigating army politics during World War Rewritten, there was always something going on in the CPA community to navigate.

World War Rewritten

World War Rewritten is its own thing; it still gets talked about today from time to time but it was truly an incredible time. Two major Alliances fighting with each other, probably 10+ armies involved at once in combat.

There was about 21 battles and lots of things to keep track of at one time.
Technically, there was not an officially declared winner because the main CPA administration was having its own falling out and complications.

Although during this time she didn’t officially lead, but she got plenty of opportunities to call rooms; which she loved participating in the whole VC would be silent and she would scream room names, and lead in standard events.

There was times no AUSIA HCOM would be online or even exist so she was leading AUSIA events at 6am EST before school started.
It would be about 14 people in the Inside Mine doing a digging event or something like that, but she loved it and did her very best.

What’s Rocket up to now?

Entering her junior year of college- it’s an exciting time because she’s living off campus with some friends and gets to host some fun dinner parties or other fun activities. She’s also thinking of going to law school after she graduates.

Although might not be found around in the RF servers; there’s a few off-shoot servers of people from RF/RPF that she’s in and still in contact with those groups.

Interesting Mentions

In the Summer of 2019, Rocket went on a two-week leave with no access to technology. Unfortunately, thus missed all of the Summer Olympics 2019 and came back to so many messages of love from people that missed her, even being caught up on the latest lore.

While in her she Officer era she recruited, a well-known face Crazzyhead, who would climb quickly through the ranks and became Rebel Commander in 2021 and led RPF to new heights.

To the shock and awe of many who know me, I do now brush my teeth regularly, but to their dismay, I still drink milk ikyk ~Rocket
