Art Column – 9/21/20

Welcome to the ninth edition of the Art Column, where our reporters see and critique pieces in the #art channel and choose which to feature from members of the Rebel Penguin Federation.

By definition, “art” can be best described as…

“…the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

Due to this, the Art Column’s purpose is to promote all types of art. This includes whether it’s digital or physical, something you can hear or something you can see, and even if it’s RPF related or not. However, please do also keep in mind due so many members in our group, not everyone will get recognized each week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoy our weekly gallery and keep creating!

Featured Artist

“Sunflower Baby”, written by Lanie, RPF Brigadier General.

This week’s featured artist is Lanie!

Lanie earned this week’s Featured Artist with her original song, “Sunflower Baby”! This song is based off of a relationship she was in that had just bloomed. When the RPF Talent Show came around, Lanie thought this was the perfect opportunity to release her first original song. Lanie named the song “Sunflower Baby” because the first bouquet of flowers he got her were sunflowers! How sweet! And this was how “Sunflower Baby” came to be; from the emotions and passion of Lanie. As most already know, Lanie has a huge passion for music and singing, as she is always in karaoke singing her heart out all the time. She has been into music since she was very young and Lanie says that RPF has given her the confidence to share the work she loves so much! She thanks you, the RPF community, for things like these and being the great wholesome community we all love you to be. Anyway, fantastic song Lanie. I hope to hear it soon! Make sure to congratulate Lanie when you see her in chat!

Club Penguin & RPF Art

Being the Rebel Penguin Federation, we have to include art related to us in this post of course! Here is some Club Penguin & RPF related art made by none other than our fellow troops!

Club Penguin collage, made by Rainbowdy, RPF Private.

In this collage of Club Penguin characters, Rainbowdy used different clip art to put this piece together. You can see famous mascots featured here such as Rookie, Gary, Herbert, and more. You can also see that Rainbowdy included some cute puffles too! There is so much going on in this piece everywhere you look, but with so much color and fun!

Theme of the Week

In this segment, a new topic will be announced per week to challenge our artists and see the best they come up with. If you’d like to participate, post your art in #art with the hashtag we include here for a chance to be featured!

This week’s Theme of the Week was Pets!

We asked our artists, “what do you love the most about your pet and why?” Here’s what they had to say, along with what they created!

“Fish”, made by z3ming, RPF Major General.

Fish go blub.” – Z

Parakeet, made by Saturn, RPF Colonel.

My grandpa had a bird like this and it was so adorable. It didn’t like much anyone who wasn’t my grandpa, but it tolerated me and that was good enough. I loved the little guy.” – Saturn

Thank you to everyone who submitted art!

Next week’s Theme of the Week will be…Fall!

As October quickly approaches with Halloween and Thanksgiving, we want to see your art for the fall season! Show us what your favorite thing about autumn is whether from the leaves on the trees, the pumpkins, the holiday decorations, and more. Make sure to put #rpfacfall in the caption when you post your work in #art if you’d like to be featured here next week! Don’t forget: art includes drawings, music, photography, paintings, and more! Be creative!

All art presented was given permission by their creators to be included in this post. Never steal or take credit for another person’s work!

Thanks for reading!
