Hey there Rebels! Welcome to a special Cat Edition of the Pet Column, where Art, Citrus, Gwen, Miggy, Morgan, and Marcasite Meg show off the amazing pets of RPF! Keep posting pics of your furry animals in our #Pets channel for the chance to be interviewed for our next column as well. Let’s meet today’s featured kitties!
Koda and Stair
Name: Koda
Age: 4 but turning 5 in August
Breed/Coat Color: Domestic longhair, ginger & white
Favorite Food: He loooves frozen lick-e-lix or catnip covered treats :p
Miggy: How did you get Koda?
Stair: He was up for adoption at a local cat rescue, and after the first visit we just knew we wanted to take him home. He instantly was trying to get affection from me, after the rescuer even said that he can be a bit shy sometimes. Unfortunately he was returned before I got him, as the previous house had a dog that didn’t get along with Koda. But now he’s the king of the house. But that also means I unfortunately didn’t get to experience Koda in his real kitten years; I got him when he was 6 months old. Now he’s gotten older, he is still quite skittish, but he’s opened up so much more. He’s really warmed up to us all and is an amazing addition to my family
Miggy: Was his name already Koda or did you choose that? If you did, what made you decide on Koda?
Stair: He already had the name Koda, but I wanted to keep it as I thought it suited him well. I may be wrong with this, but Koda means “friend” in one language, and “little bear” in another, and I think that just suits him amazingly :3
Miggy: Does Koda know any tricks orhave any quirks about him?
Stair: Hahaha its funny you asked this. I taught him to sit and to give his paw when he wants a treat. If i ask for “the other one” he will give me his other paw. He’s quite clever.
Any quirks? He’s very talkative, any time l enter the room he greats me with a happy meow and even talks back to me sometimes! Haha Oh yeah, and when he gets really happy and is purring too much, he starts to drool
Miggy: What is your favorite memory or story of Koda?
Stair: That’s a great question, the first thing that came to mind was the many times he’s managed to catch birds and mice even whilst being on a harness and lead. I take him out for walks as we live on a very busy road, and even still, I look away for two seconds and all of a sudden he’s got a lil field mouse in his mouth. He never has killed them, but just holds them. I think he likes to play with them honestly
Another funny story was when he got into the chimney somehow. He didn’t climb up it but sat in the bottom. When he came out he was more black than ginger. The soot
stained his fur for a good few weeks. I think he learnt his lesson after that.
Miggy: If Koda could have a super power, what would it be?
Stair: Hmmm I think he would want to be able to manipulate time, so that he could pause the sun when it’s at the perfect angle through the window for him to sunbathe. I personally would want him to be able to communicate in human words, or at least for us to be telepathic, so rather than him meowing and screaming at me, we can have a conversation

Bert and Meredith
Name: Bertuzzi or Bert
Age: 1 year old
Breed: Tuxedo cat
Favorite Food: Wet treat tubes
Gwen: How did you come up with his name?
Meredith: Well I didn’t have too many names in mind, but Bertuzzi is the last name of my favorite hockey player. I took my top few names for him and made a poll in RPF and let the rebels decide! They did great though because he totally gives Bert vibes.
Gwen: Does he have any fun traits?
Meredith: He is a velcro cat to the max! He constantly needs to be cuddling or sat on top of me which is just my favorite thing.
Gwen: What is your favorite memory or story of him so far?
Meredith: Oh man he’s only been with me for just under a month so there’s so many memories to come, but just watching him come out of his shell has made me so happy. From hiding under chairs and boxes, to totally running the house now.
Gwen: If you could travel anywhere with Bert, where would you go?
Meredith: Oooo that’s a great question! He LOVES to sun bathe, so I like the idea of bringing him to the beach (but keeping him far away from the water).

Ruby and Auuhhhlivia
Name: Ruby
Age: 10 months old
Breed: Long hair tabby
Favorite Food: Bonkers treats
Meg: Does Ruby have a favorite food or treat?
Auuhhhlivia: Ruby loves the Bonkers treats in the pink bag! She loves when I throw them and she can chase them across the hardwood floor.
Meg: Where did the name Ruby come from?
Auuhhhlivia: Well when we got here and her brother, they were named Noel and Claus because they were found around Christmas. But they didn’t feel like Noel and Claus so i came up with Max and Ruby. Max is pure little brother chaos, and ruby is straight diva older sister and it just fits them perfectly.
Meg: Do you have a favorite memory or story about Ruby?
Auuhhhlivia: Ruby was sooooo shy when we first got her compared to her brother. She didn’t come out out of the box we got her in for a long time. When she finally did, she came out with this little mouse toy she had while she was in the shelter and it came home with her. Watching her play with that little mouse for the first time with her brother is the sweetest thing i have ever seen and will never forget. 
Meg: Is that her favorite toy or does she have a different favorite toy?
Auuhhhlivia: Id say its still one of here favorite toys. They lose all their other toys, but she always has the mouse near by.
Meg: Does Ruby have any silly habits?
Auuhhhlivia: She LOVES to lay in sinks. The bathroom, kitchen. Even if we leave the sinks dripping when its cold, she will still lay in the sink and let it wet her back.
