Troop Interviews – Lance, Rocket

Troop Interviews

This week marks the fifty-second official edition of “Troop Interviews”, where a team of interviewers (currently Rane, Cosmo, and Royal) ask two or more people questions. Interviews won’t have same questions; each interview’s purpose is to show originality and have its unique highlights. Along with that, the questions asked to give us a better understanding of each soldier and how different or similar everyone is in the community. There’s an exponential amount of soldiers here in the Rebel Penguin Federation, so it will be difficult to get to everyone who requests an interview. The Rebel Broadcast Team graciously appreciates the patience you all have and hope to see you guys in a post one day!

The two interviewees for this week are Lance Rocket!

Lance

Welcome back to another week of Troop Interviews! Don’t worry guys, you’re back in the safe hands of me, Rane, as your host and not silly Royal or foolish Cosmo. I’m truly sorry for leaving you guys in the hands of those fools. Anyway, this week, we are mixing it up with some former troops! Our first veteran interviewee is none other than Lance! Lance is one of the two yellow high command that retired this week. He also just earned Rebel status (congrats!) on top of his new vacation time. Starting off the saddest issue we’ve had yet, here’s what our already dearly missed lemon had to say…

So should I say dearly missed lemon or dearly missed lemon turned grape?

How long was Lance in RPF and how did he first join?

First, I asked Lance how long has he been in RPF before he retired and how did he join. In response, Lance told me about a friend of his that he would play CPR with that was in an army.

Once upon a time, her army was in a battle at the time and she sent screenshots of what was happening to Lance which ended up making him log on and check it out. The next day, he ran into the same group of penguins and ended up joining that special army’s Discord. I just wonder what army that could’ve been! Anyway, as time progressed, Lance enjoyed his time getting to know the army while his friend started going inactive. Although she ended up not returning, Lance stayed for almost 19 months before recently retiring after a successful HCOM career. And he lived happily ever after, the end!

Well, actually we still have a whole interview ahead, so it’s not necessarily the end yet.

How has RPF changed since Lance first joined?

My second question for Lance was how has RPF changed since he first joined. I asked him this because Lance joined RPF when it was still the Rebel Federation, which is now our hub server instead of our main server. Back then, this was when RPF had first transitioned to RF and all of the divisions only had a channel to themselves.

Lance told me that, in his opinion, RPF has ultimately changed in so many ways. First, he saw RPF go from “#cp-chat” in the hub, to the “Rebel Federation: Club Penguin Divison”, and then to the “Rebel Penguin Federation”, our original name. Second, he noted how he saw so many Rebel Commanders in and out of leadership, specifically Liz, Silverburg, Plane, Ulti, Crazzy, and Cosmo. Ah, the nostalgia. Third, saving the best for last, Lance said his favorite thing that has changed was our attendance sizes. Compared to when he first joined where we had about 30-50 people online and worries if we would break 15 for a post, Lance got to see RPF grow to break 172! Also, I almost forget to mention what he said about the atmosphere. Lance said from then to now, RPF has grown a lot as more of a family and has never been closer.

The wholesomeness will never be outmatched!

What are some of Lance’s favorite memories of RPF?

Next, I asked Lance about his favorite memories of RPF. I originally asked for his all-time favorite, but we all know none of us would ever be able to mention only one. There’s just too many, it’s impossible! Well, maybe not completely impossible. Lance actually does have an all-time favorite memory and it turns out to be when he got promoted to Third in Command. Lance says that he waited a long time for that rank and it was surreal to him when it happened. I completely forgot green Lance ever existed! Some other favorite memories of Lance’s are the karaoke event he hosted when he was still a moderator, the unscheduled pride event, snowball events at the 2019 RPF Winter Olympics, EU Mancala events at the 2020 RPF Summer Olympics, being pranked by “YellowLion”, and his last branch battle where Navy took home the win! There are definitely plenty more, but that’s what his retirement post was for! My fingers can’t keep up for very much longer either. However, they can at least hold up to say Navy owns!

What were Lance’s favorite things/memories of being HCOM?

It’s obviously a whole different experience being an HCOM member versus a moderator or regular troop. So for my next question, I asked Lance what his favorite things and memories were of being a HCOM member. Lance said his favorite thing about being High Command was the other HCOM he got to work alongside. He has so many memories with them and thinks they’re quite amazing! Not sure how you dealt with Cosmo and Wolves at the same time and thought it was fun, but kudos! Another favorite thing of Lance’s was the positive feedback from troops. He felt like it was so worth the effort after hearing people’s appreciation for what they did and that they had a great time. Lance also mentioned he enjoyed leading, specifically at fast paced uniform trainings. These all sound so fun! I’m seriously getting a bad case of  FOMO right now… #Rane4HCOM #Jk #Greenie4Life

Will Lance possibly rejoin someday?

My last question for Lance was whether or not he though he would rejoin RPF or even CPA in general again someday. To my surprise and I’m sure everyone’s joy, Lance said he thinks he will be back eventually! Yes, I know it isn’t for sure, but even the chance is nice! In addition, Lance said he was thinking maybe next summer if everything in real life works out. If he was ever to rejoin ranks again, it would definitely be to fight the good fight in RPF. Fight the good fight forever!

Lance’s last words were thanking everyone for the love he has received despite being the 9864289492836537438269th retirement this month. And to RPF, he has a special message to share.

Every one of you, no matter what rank you are, are the future of RPF. Work hard, fight the good fight, and keep pushing on. Make RPF the best it can be, never back down, and break past every limit.

Don’t hit me up… if you know you know…

All love for lemony Lance.

Anyways…

Rocket

This next interview is with the second yellow high command that retired this week, Rocket! And to make it even better, he was also interviewed by yours truly! I thought since these past couple weeks Cosmo and Royal gave me a bit of a break, I would cut them a bit of slack too. Anyways, let’s see what our newly free spaceship had to say before he takes off for the stars!

Meowth is my spirit animal.

How does Rocket feel being a veteran versus being HCOM?

Kicking off our interview, my first question for Rocket was how it felt to be purple instead of yellow. Rocket responded saying that it’s an emotional rollercoaster. I wouldn’t know how to feel either! It’s like getting Troop of the Week but instead of mass congratulatory pings it’s sad “we’re going to miss you” pings. That hurt just a little thinking about that and this isn’t even about me. Anyway, Rocket jokingly said he forgot what slow mode felt like in main chat. Haha! Oppression time! Also, he loves the new color except for the fact he’s on the bottom of the member list now instead of the top. On top of everything, Rocket said ultimately it’s just difficult accepting it’s time to move on to bigger and better things. RPF is love, RPF is life.

Will Rocket still hang out in RPF as a veteran?

Next, I asked Rocket if he planned on hanging around the server even as a veteran. Rocket thinks that this is a really hard question, but I don’t think it is. He’ll be back, they always come back… at least I hope. Moving on, Rocket said he wants to try his best to keep in touch with as many people as he can, but for right now he needs some time to stop and smell the roses of freedom! Being a rocket is hard work and this rocket has some school work and real life stuff to take care of. But, with that being said, Rocket said regardless he’ll never be more than a DM or ping away! You guys seriously don’t understand how hard it is for me to not include a pleading face emote after every sentence.

What were some of Rocket’s favorite memories of RPF?

Rocket had so many memories to choose from after I asked him what his favorites were of RPF. Even he said there’s so many to count! Some of Rocket’s favorite memories include trolling F6 recruiting with Pastel Puppy, creating special recruiting groups like Tree Gang, Smith Gang, etc., Strike Force, rising the ranks with his friends, his own outrageous and funny sayings, and his last branch battle! Phew, that was a lot. But wait, there’s more! The memories Rocket will treasure the most are all of the battle victories and coming together of RPF amidst the numerous obstacles we’ve faced. He talks about how everyone has been through a lot together and no matter what he’s always tried to just make others laugh and smile, which he definitely did! His favorite memory in the end is how warm and wonderful to interact with everyone in RPF is. Yes, Rocket, you are not very good at all at summarizing, but it’s okay because this was worth all of the typing out.

What has been Rocket’s history with RPF?

On top of asking about Rocket’s history with RPF, I also asked him how long he’s been with us and how he found RPF to begin with. Keeping it short and simple, Rocket said he joined RPF in late March 2019 after being recruited by Silverburg. He stayed for 18 months, spending 3 months as a troop, 6 months as a moderator, and 8 months as Third in Command!

How the tables have turned… I never expected my interviewee to ask me, the interviewer, a question! However, Rocket called me excellent so I mean I guess I’ll give him a pass this time.

What was Rocket’s highest achievement in RPF?

Lastly, I asked Rocket what he thought his highest achievement in RPF was. Without a doubt, Rocket answered with the revamp of Division Recap to Tuxedo Times. He said he is so happy with the way it turned out; making the team what it is today and creating such an equally exciting and engaging weekly issue. Rocket is definitely very proud, especially of his upcoming successor, Shark! You love to see it. We can’t wait to see what Shark has in store for us with it! Oh, and Rocket also mentioned earning RPF Rebel status on top of Tuxedo Times. I guess that’s cool or whatever. Not to mention, I thought I’d add in that Rocket also recruited one of our current Rebel Commanders, Crazzy! I don’t know about you guys, but I’d totally flex that all the time! Not many people get to say that they’ve even had a recruit make it to moderator. That’s definitely a cool achievement for the books!

For Rocket’s last words, he said to fight the good fight and keep on vibing! RPF only has good and wholesome vibes so you can’t miss it. Also, Rocket said no one’s ever really gone. Oh man, someone has to be cutting onions… my eyes seriously can’t handle all of this. I don’t know how I made it this far through the post.

There goes Rocket as he blasts off at the speed of light!

Anyways…

Yodabobobo & Reeeeee

Usually here in Troop Interviews, we like to interview the new Troop of the Week and any new moderators in our weekly posts. However, since we’ve already interviewed Yoda and Reeeeee before, we didn’t want to make it repetitive and interview them again. Nevertheless, congratulations Yoda on Troop of the Week and Reeeeee on becoming staff! You both deserve it and we’re so happy for you!

If you would like to read Reeeeee’s previous interview with me, click here!

Anyways…

Wait, that’s it.

If you have any questions or would like to be interviewed by the interviewing team, DM one of these members: Rane, Cosmo, Royal.
