Have you ever seen someone with a purple name in chat and wondered who they are? Every RPF Advisor has a story, and this is the twenty-seventh edition of the Vet Spotlight column, where we take you back in time to tell the story of our esteemed veterans! Today, we’re telling you the story of RPF advisor and legend Elexonck
Troop Experience
Elex first joined the server on November 21, 2018 after a relatively new troop at the time named Kiki recruited him. Elex recalls the differences from what RPF is today recalling that RPF was just RF at the time and it was a big transition period, “it was when they were still trying to figure out how to make RF a thing without messing up RPF. So the ranks and stuff would change frequently. RPF also wasn’t really part of the army community at all at that time. It was quite different but the main things like events, recruiting etc. were similar to now.”
Just 2 days after joining Elex attended his first event earning his first promotion to Private.

A little under a month and a half later Elex was granted the honor of being the 72nd Rebel of the Week! Elex remembers being excited and anticipating he would receive the role after being praised for attending AUSIA events.
Officer Elex
After reaching the rank of Colonel, Elex recalls being rejected from staff for 21 straight weeks. Elex persevered despite this and eventually was granted the rank of Brigadier General on August 4, 2019!

Elex recalls his mentors during his time as staff being Klein very briefly before she retired, and Cosmo the rest of the time until Elex became HCOM.
This time with Cosmo as his mentor was relatively brief, as Elex made HCOM within 6 months of becoming an officer. With respect to those months, Elex notes that he had some of his best times in RPF while on the mod team. He says that although it was a pretty hardcore time for many people, with lots of great Rebels climbing the ranks creating a somewhat competitive atmosphere, being a mod at that time was amazing. Elex reminisces, “I had just started university so everything in my life was different so the routine of being RPF staff and the various shenanigans happening that time was the best.”

Upon making HCOM, Elex says he didn’t notice much of a difference, other than being included in what he calls the “important conversations” which he enjoyed being a part of. At the time leading up to his promotion Elex was already doing a bit of HCOM work due to a lack of HCOM members who could be present at AUSIA events. Upon his promotion Elex became an EUSIA HCOM, joining Cosmo as the only other non-US HCOM at the time.
Rebel Commander
Just over a year after joining the HCOM team, Elex was granted the highest achievable rank within RPF, Rebel Commander, in February 2021. During his time as RC Elex constructed a monumental list of achievements, including leading multiple wars, winning lots of trophies like the March Madness trophy in 2023 which we hadn’t gotten prior to Elex’s leadership, and more!
Despite his long list of achievements, Elex highlights his favorite times as Rebel Commander being “Silly things like a meme taking over chat or a stupid event,” He reflected on great feelings like winning tournaments, and the craziness associated with wars, but maintained that “Weird Memeable Incidents” were his favorite and he still jokes about them to this day. One particular incident he referenced was when F6 changed his profile picture and display name to Regina George, so next time you see F6 in chat be sure to ask him if fetch is happening.
Elex decided to retire from his position as Rebel Commander on February 25, 2024 and was immediately granted RPF’s highest honor, the title of RPF Legend. Elex says this title being bestowed upon him was confirmation that his time was done. With nothing else he wished to achieve as Rebel Commander, being granted Legend was confirmation that he had done enough and retirement was the right choice at the time for him.

Legendary Retirement
Since retiring, Elex has been up to a bunch of really cool things! Retiring shortly after landing his first permanent full time job, Elex still works for the same company but has since received a promotion and move from Ireland to the UK! He’s also working on a part time MSc that’ll wrap up in early 2028. Outside of those things Elex says he plays rugby, goes to raves, and listens to “as much music made on a computer as [he] can.”
Reflecting on his time in RPF, Elex wished to shed light on the 2020 Summer Olympics, which he says is one of his overall RPF highlights, “Even if there was a 6 hour mancala game or whatever.”

Despite retirement, Elex has still been able to contribute to RPF as one of our advisors! He likes being as involved as he prefers to be, enjoying helping out and providing assistance on important situations, expressing that one of his favorite parts is the fact that he gets to learn about fun events being planned within the server before the rest of us.
Many people may be wondering about Elex’s reputation as a “manipulative dictator” and Elex would like to shed some light on these claims. Elex’s official position on the matter is, “Yes I’m sorry for my manipulation of Link. But you have to understand that they deserved it due to their crimes.”
When asked if there was anything specific he wanted to include, Elex responded with this important message:

That wraps up this edition of the Vet Spotlight column! Huge thank you to Elex for all the work you’ve done and continue to do for RPF, and for taking the time to be interviewed! Additionally, thank you to all the readers who have made it this far! Fight the Good Fight!
Thomas | Lieutenant General
