Vet Spotlight: Yodabobobo

Have you ever seen someone with a purple name in chat and wondered who they are? Every RPF Veteran has a story, and this is the eighteenth edition of the Vet Spotlight column, where we take you back in time to tell the story of our esteemed veterans! Today, we’re telling you the story of our veteran, Yodabobobo.

Starting Club Penguin Rewritten in February 2020, Yodabobobo joined the RPF Discord Server as the 5355th member in March after using it for guides. Attending his first event only 4 days later (a US training event titled “Operation: Back to the Basics“)  earned him his first promotion to Private. He notes enjoying the wide diversity of ages and backgrounds in the server, going on to interact with notable people such as Bren, Yoshi, Dill and Ulti in his early troop days.

Yodabobobo would not intend to be active from the start of his journey- however the COVID lockdown gave him the time and opportunity to climb the ranks and obtain different roles. During his Troop Days, Yoda would help the RPF in many battles. This included his first tournament, Premier League, where he achieved victory in the Finals against ACP, as well as battling alongside a group of fellow troops, the Bebel Tenguin Sardines for the closure of CPATG. Although it was short, Yoda’s first war (World War Rewritten) was a hype early experience. Despite a retirement from Lieutenant Colonel to Visitor, Yoda continued to rank up, eventually receiving the rank of Officer Cadet in August. It was during this time that he would also obtain the title of Troop of the Week #162. Shortly after, Yoda would be promoted to Brigadier General, allowing him to be pink for his first steps as a staff member.

The original goal at the time was to obtain Lieutenant General (thus avoiding mentoring) and reach RPF Veteran status. Yoda also wanted to join staff to contribute more to RPF through teams available to staff such as the CPR news team and to help out around the server. As Cadet, he was mentored by 3tadpoles and Brad, while future Rebel Commander F6Sixer would mentor him during his grind up the staff ranks.

Rebel Broadcast Team had been recently revived by Crazzy and Moon shortly before Yoda became an Officer, allowing him to take part in early columns. When asked about his time on RBT, he noted that “My favorite column was probably RPF Rewind as I was part of the initial team for the column and was able to write many articles. I liked being able to dig through old posts in our current RPF website and our OG website from OGCP and find facts that I could share with other people. I think I prefered being able to discover info from old sources like archaeology rather than interviewing people.” Some of his favourite posts included “Rebel Rewind: THE RPF UNIFORM” which documented the evolution of the classic RPF outfit, “Rebel Rewind: History of the Legends Cup” and “Rebel Broadcast Team In Review – A Lookback Since the Revival“.

Finally in July 2021, Yodabobobo would receive Third in Command. Yoda made many notable achievements as HCOM, such as getting to lead an Olympics team, be involved in planning for Legends Cup XI, organising April Fools 2022, ascending to Rebel Broadcast Team leadership as well as helping plan parties with PPC.Just 3 months later, Yoda would rank up to Second in Command. As a 2ic, he would help RPF achieve victory in Christmas Chaos XI and Ausia Arena, defeating the Ice Warriors in both battles. Unfortunately, this would also be the era of Club Penguin Rewritten’s closure, for which Yoda would write a tribute post “The Club Penguin Rewritten Legacy“. For his efforts as a member of HCOM, he was awarded the title of RPF Rebel. On the subject of receiving this status. Yoda notes “I also was happy to get RPF Rebel and be recognised for some of the contributions and work I put in during my time as HCOM.”

Yodabobobo is inducted into the RPF Hall Of Fame as an RPF Rebel.

Throughout his time in RPF, Yoda was part of numerous Olympic teams, even helping to lead a team in the 2021-2022 Winter Olympics. However, it was his first ever Olympics experience with Team Terra (the winning team of the Summer 2020 ATLA Olympics) that was his favourite.

Yoda also had a large influence throughout the wider Rebel Federation through his 900+ member Rebels Among Us Division. Here, Yoda shares his experience as a cofounder:

In July of 2022, Yodabobobo would retire from RPF through a post on the site. He feels that being a Veteran is a lot more relaxed without needing to attend events and has given him more time for school and real life responsibilities. Today, he still enjoys coming into main chat and meeting new people. Yoda also keeps up with other Vets through VC and games like Minecraft and Fortnite.

When asked for advice for future RPF Staff, Yoda gave these important pieces of advice:

This wraps up this edition of the Vet Spotlight column! A huge thank you to Yodabobobo for all of the hard work he has put into RPF over the years and for giving the time to be featured!
